I love these. Any recommendations (have read The Cazalets by the way) also the Woman of Substance books (and sequels)
something a bit Downton Abbey-ish would be the icing on the cake
any recommendations?

How about Netherwood and Ravenscliffe by Jane Sanderson.

Maamaa · 20/10/2012 14:30

Poldark - there are about 20 of them !

alemci · 20/10/2012 17:15

I'm reading Sarah Harrison at the moment. Swan Music, which links with the Nightingale Nest and the 3rd book with Swallows in the title.

I think she is a very good writer.

also used to read alot of Poldark which were good.

Also Susan Howatch with her Starbridge? series about the C of E from different characters are very interesting.

What about the Forsythe Saga by John Galsworthy? It was a great tv series and I thoroughly enjoyed the books beforehand.

XiCi · 20/10/2012 18:45

How about Susan Howatch's Penmarric?

fiestabelle · 20/10/2012 18:58

Penny Vincenzi The Spoils of Time trilogy, fab books.

5Foot5 · 20/10/2012 19:04

How about Susan Howatch's Penmarric?

You beat me to it!

Also you might like R F Delderfields "A Horseman Riding By" series.

HappyTurquoise · 20/10/2012 19:58

Another Rosamund Pilcher vote here.

careergirl · 20/10/2012 22:20

I've read Spoils of Time trilogy and enjoyed it. I did read Penmarric years ago and vaguely remember enjoying it - I think I'll go back to it and re-read
Read most of Rosamunde Pilcher's but a few years since I read some of them and think I will have a re-read
thanks for the suggestions!
