Easy Hospital Reads

Hi, DD is about to go into hospital for a week. I need some nice easy reading for my kindle, mauve binchy type things but I have read all them. Something I can dip in and out of but with no nasty surprises. Kind of fluffy but well written.
Thanks

I'm halfway through The woman who went to bed for a year by Sue Townsend, is very easy reading

elkiedee · 20/09/2012 02:31

Have you read Cathy Kelly?

elkiedee · 20/09/2012 02:34

The Choc Lit sells most of its books for £1.99 for Kindle, and Sue Moorcroft's All That Mullarkey is currently free.

Katie Fforde - lovely feel-good romances.

highlandcoo · 20/09/2012 08:58

If you like getting into a set of books by the same author, try Adriana Trigiani's Big Stone Gap series - very readable and quite absorbing.

And Elizabeth Jane Howard's Cazalet Chronicles are excellent. I've read them several times.

Hope all goes well for your DD.

Another vote for adriana trigiani. It's like a cup of hot chocolate then a hug in a book! Very feel good.

Thanks! Have read the Sue Townsend one. Think I have read most if Cathy Jelly but will have a look at her new one. Will have a look at the others tonight. Loved ya ya and fried green.
Keep em coming ;)

The Book of Summers - Emylia Hall. I read it recently. An easy read, but not an altogether happy ending - more of a hopeful ending.

notnowImreading · 20/09/2012 17:26

Another vote for the Cazalet books - very short chapters so great for picking up and putting down. The first one is 'The Light Years' and is set in the 30s.

Mellower · 20/09/2012 17:29

Shopaholics are very funny and lighthearted! I like Katie Fforde too, havent read any of them for a while! Might see if there are any new ones.

How old is she? If you don't mind me asking.

isw · 20/09/2012 17:33

Noooo big stone gap not on kindle :(
Don't think will be able to handle nanny diaries.
Read all shopaholic books
Just downloading The Light Years and book of summers

I love any chick lit, can recommend Sheila Flanaghan and Patricia Scanlan as well as Sophie Kinsella, the shopaholics author. All fairly lighthearted and frothy!

isw · 20/09/2012 20:02

Sorry Mellower she is 4.5
Hmmm Katie Fforde looks a bit too easy, not enough to loose yourself in iykwim.
Think I have read all Marian Keyes. Call the midwives sounds a def no, cant handle "gritty" medical based stuff. Think I have also read all flanagan, scanlan and kinsella!

You must get the Kate Morton books - Forgotten Garden, House at Riverton and The Distant Hours. All excellent and on Kindle special now on Amazon. Good luck in hospital.
