I want to like my Kindle

but it just feels weird reading on it. Does anyone else feel like this?

Also the price to download a decent book is expensive.

The five I seached for on Amazon were cheaper to buy in Sainsbury's than to put on my Kindle.

It just seems such a pointless gadget.

But I really want to like it as it was a present.

"but nothing beats a proper book. It annoys me that I can't read it in the dark"

LOL. You can't read a proper book in the dark either :o

I love that mine synchs to the app on my phone and ipad so I am never caught without something to read.

Yes, that's what I like about it, the syncing. I tend to take my phone up to bed with me, the Kindle lives by the bed anyway, then I can choose either depending on whether it is light or not (I've got the light up cover but it is awkward to hold unless you are sat upright whereas on my phone I can stay snuggled on my side and read). I rarely take the Kindle out of the house but read on my phone a lot while out and about.

The not being able to flick back and forth to check things as easily as in a real book is the only real drawback for me.

I move them to the Cloud / Archive once I've read them. Occasionally struggle to find one if I'm not sure what it's called (for example I'm reading yet another Ladies Detective Agency book at the moment and have no idea what it is called, I had to browse to find it this morning)

Ephiny it's not that hard to forget when you only have the title and no cover or blurb.

I too have a Read folder (I have lots of folders)

You can sort by Recently Opened so the one you are reading will be at the top WhoKnows.

I am not keen on mine, i can see there are times when it will be useful (if i ever get that holiday organised) but it does annoy me that all the book sales go through Amazon (or can you buy from elsewhere) and that books and the money they make for charity shops will decline

juniorant · 05/09/2012 12:24

oh thanks for that didn't know you could put them in folders.
No some books I read I love but because you don't see the cover/title every time you pick it up you don't know what it's called especially weeks later and I chat to my friends in rl about books alot and like to recommend them.
Flick through the kindle and start going "oh I think that was good but ..." and I can't quickly read the back and go oh yes it's about blah blah

Thanks Business, I have tried that sort order but then found it took ages to find new books I had loaded up. It's not that big a deal as I normally only have about 20 active.
