Hi,
Just been asked by a gruop of well read friends to join their book club, this is our first chosen book. Haven`t a clue what its about yet, anyone read it? All I have read for the last 8 years is Ladybird and Roald Dhal!

Yes, really enjoyed it. Won't tell you what it was about though, in case I spoil it!

bizzi · 12/03/2006 13:45

Yes, last year but forgotten what it was about! Think I enjoyed it but not remembering contents doesn't seem a good sign, does it!

MrsSpoon · 14/03/2006 21:54

Must admit I didn't hugely enjoy this but it was an easy light read, so probably quite good to start with if you haven't had the chance to read anything for a while. Smile

I was disappointed with this as was reading all Richard & Judy books, enjoyed most as left this till last as it was the winner - not MY winner.

Gem13 · 15/03/2006 16:19

Enjoyed it at the time - holiday read - but wouldn't bother to read it again.

It's not rubbish but neither is it difficult.

Gem13 · 15/03/2006 16:20

Would you like my copy?

triplets · 29/03/2006 16:29

Sorry, out of circulation for a while! Thank you for the offer of your copy, already bought and read mine. Quite enjoyed it, easy to read when you are tired! Thought the end was disappointing, abit dragged out, now we are on to the history of the tractors in the Ukranian!

jsut butting in to say hi triplets! Not seen you about for a while, hows things?

jmum6 · 29/03/2006 16:42

Was this the story of the woman who was pregnant?

katyp · 29/03/2006 16:43

Agree it is a light read. A few details niggled - anyone else notice that there was mention that they had a shower room in their remote Welsh farmhouse - I remember thinking this was pretty unlikely back whenever this part of the book was set. The author must be quite young and probably can't conceive that there was a time when washing facilities were more basic than they are nowadays!

Hi Kelly1978,
Yes I am still here! How are things, well stressful is the word! Finding coping with three 8yr olds very hard work at our ages, Harry is now 65 and I am 54! I have suffered from aching knees since Christmas and gp says its early arthritis, its murder getting up and down stairs though I can walk for miles, I am not overweight, keep fit and busy for feel fed up about it! Harry is much the same, still working hard doing gardening for local people, still drinks too much in my book, meaning he is asleep every night by 9pm, gets very grumpy! Kids, well they are lovely, exhausting and I am hoping well. Thomas had to see a paediatrician in Jan who told us he is very low on iron, examined him and asked how long he had had a heart murmer which we knew nothing about! I immediately went into panic mode because of losing Matthew. So now all three have to be seen by a cardiologist, their appt came yesterday, 12th April, they had to have an ecg three weeks ago then they will have an echocardiogram done. I just panic at the thought of it all, and dread being told there may be a problem.Apart from that we are fine, ha ha! Off to Durham for a week on Frid, taking my mum also, so not a rest but a nice change of scenery! Thank you for asking after me!

blimey, no rest for you then! You sounds like you are dealign with everything really well. I can't imagine what it must be like living with three eight year olds! Good luck with the ecg for the children, must be very scary. I can remember the shock when I was told ds had a murmur, but thankfully it wasn't anythign serious.
Hoep you have a good week in Durham, try to squeeze some relaxarion in somewhere!

Thanks Kelly. Just off to bed, had to abandon the ironing as I cant do anymore today, exhausted! Kids were all in a play tonight at school and so we didnt get home until 8pm, all high as kites and hungry, still packing, but we`ll get there!
