Is Linwood Barclay losing his charm?

Is it just me that thinks this? I absolutely loved No Time For Goodbyes and read all of his others after that. I then proceeded to recommend him to everyone who likes the odd thriller/crime novel.

I have just finished The Accident and feel a bit and Hmm about it. I dont want to 'spoil' but all the murders FFS?

I just felt that he is starting to believe his hype and is trying to be even more far fetched with each next book he writes.

Or is it me?

I was a bit underwhelmed by it too. Bags? Bags?!

He has a new one out in October so we'll see what that's like. I'm not convinced by authors churning out books every year, I think the quality suffers. Lord Ian Rankin being an exception to that rule of course.

Linwood Barclay's wife was my high-school typing teacher Smile. I used to enjoy his columns in the Toronto Star but have never read his books...am going to Amazon now....

I thought The Accident was terrible! I loved the first two but couldn't get into The Accident at all and gave up after about 10%. (Kindle)

Celtic you didn't miss much!

I used to like how the books referenced eachother and were all set in the same town, but its all gone a bit Midsomer Murders now!
