Can anyone suggest any books set in Tuscany - contemporary / vintage (?) / classic - anything really?

Tuscany for Beginners by Imogen Edwards-Jones - a very funny take on the Brits-in-Tuscany genre.

A room with a view- re-read this while on honeymoon in Florence- fab!

Sacred Hearts by Sarah Dunant is set in a convent in Italy- possibly Pisa but can't remember. It's a good read.

The Birth Of Venus by Sarah Dunant is definitely set in and around Florence and I thought it was very good.

The Food of Love by Anthony Capella is set in and around Rome. A modern reworking of Cyrano de Bergerac about a chef who falls in love with a girl and tries to woo her with food. Not high literature but I really enjoyed this. Quite well written and good fun.

Obviously Rome is not Tuscany but it's not too far Wink

War in the Val d'Orcia by Iris Origo. It's fact, not fiction, based on her war time diaries and it's beautifully written.

The House by the Sea-by Santa Montefiore. A romantic thriller.good, light holiday reading. Love Falls-by Esther Freud, fiction about a seventeen year old's life-changing summer in Tuscany. If you want non-fiction,Vanilla Beans and Brodo,by Isabella Dusi,is fun too.

Just thought of another one - fiction this time - The Savage Garden by Mark Mills. Set just post war, excellent.
