I remember reading the Myth Series (Myth Adventure, Another Fine Myth etc) by Robert Lynn Asprin when I was in my late teens and really enjoyed them. They are funny and fast paced.

Those or Pratchett - Mort is hilarious and a great introductory Discworld novel.
