I really want to start reading a some erotica but I have no idea where to begin. There seems to be so much out there, which is great but given it is out of my normal genre I haven't a clue about recommended authors etc.

I am very open minded, not prudish in the slightest and looking for a read to get me in the mood!

Please give me your recommendations :)

Thank you.

well to start mills and boon do a racier version of the old bodice rippers, nice start, quick to read.
The 50 shades trilogy are pretty good tho, read in order and very imaginative.
I read my mummy porn on my kindle, no one can tell!!

DO NOT BOTHER WITH 50 Shades of Grey!!!

Wanna buy a book?

CrackedNipplesSuchFun · 09/06/2012 22:04

I definitely will be reading on my pseudo Kindle! :o

I am more than happy to purchase a book, it's just where to begin. Mills and Boon, that sounds like a place to start, any particular ones that you can recommend in particular?

I loved the Fifty Shades of grey trilogy, it is absolute crap and totally unbelievable but throughly enjoyable nonetheless

Mills and Boon Modern Romance series - generally pretty explicit stuff. here are certain authors to avoid if you want the filth - Helen Brooks, Carole Mortimer - both save the sex until marriage which means IMO they should not be writing for this series but what do I know? Most authors in this series do good filth.

If you're into paranormal romance you will probably like Kresley Cole (vampire porn, quite filthy), Gaelen Foley (regency romance with sex in), Lara Adrian (vampire porn but well done), Christine Feehan (but she takes herself a bit too seriously), Sherrilyn Kenyon and Jacqueline Frank.

And seriously, if it's kinky you want you are far better off with the Black Dagger Brotherhood series - at least the female characters have a spine in that.

I will admit to buying a cd set for kindle off eBay , some were complete shite, but others were good.
Megan hart, penny Jordan, sheryl woods, kelley st John, robin Kaye & Kate Hoffman .
I know they are not Ulysses , it's a bit of titification, sexscapism.

If you like books with a bit of meat (pardon the pun) to them try Maxim Jacubowski - the king of the erotic thriller.

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 17/06/2012 00:36

The Mammoth Book of... do several erotic ones if you just search it on Amazon they all come up, and they're usually pretty cheap and have lots of stories in them too
Shelley Laurenston writes brilliant paranormal romance books that have some really good sex scenes in them, as well as great characterisation and funny and interesting storylines. They're set in a world where various shapeshifters live alongside ordinary humans. If you read any, start with the Magnus Pack trilogy as they introduce lots of the other characters, and get the others in order after that.
Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter books are good too - they're fantasy paranormal ones too, and again, really well written. I can never remember which is which as the titles are all the same well nearly so I go by who's in them - Bride and Vane, Astrid and Zarek, and Valerius and Tabitha are my favourites although they're all good.
Once you get into Amazon, each page has those lists halfway down of "people who like this, like that" and you can find loads of free or dirt cheap suggestions there for more of the same so to speak, so if you start with say "The Mammoth Book of Erotic Fiction" there'll be several pages of suggestions there, and you can just follow along the links Wink

I'd recommend a Black Lace book, used to be stocked in Ann Summers but probably widely available online.

solidgoldbrass · 17/06/2012 23:35

Black Lace are no longer publishing - try Xcite who do the same sort of thing. Any of their anthologies would be a good place to start.

Or of course you could buy my anthology Grin.
