The sad case of the (almost) empty Kindle

Please recommend some good reads for me Smile.

I like David Nicholls, most Nick Hornby, Kate Atkinson, some Anita Shreve (but not when it gets too self-absorbed), most Alice Hoffman, Donna Tartt.

I read 'Me Before You' by Jojo Moyes and loved it.

I hated 'Twilight' and ditched '50 Shades of Grey' after one chapter.

I loved 'The Help' and 'Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood'.

I am a massive Harry Potter fan (and have pre-ordered JKR's new novel) but don't go in for sci-fi or fantasy stuff that is really aimed at adults.

I don't mind the odd Philippa Gregory type historical novel if I'm really in the mood.

What should I put on the Kindle next?

Project Gutenberg for free out-of-copyright books (so mostly nineteenth century).

The Hunger Games trilogy is an excellent YA read.

The Playdate is 99p today!

Am reading Night Waking and really enjoying it.

try Tana French (any) or Small Island by Andrea Levy or Notes from an Exhibition by Patrick Gale.

Pippa Wright's Lizzy Harrison Loses Control is chicklit but it's well worth £1!

For all sorts of stuff, have a look at the Jubilee sale on Kindle which ends at 11.59 tonight. Last year they had a big sale through July and August which I'm hoping they'll repeat although I probably can't afford it as I'm about to lose my job, but I should get redundancy money and it's my birthday at the end of June (I bought the Kindle with last year's birthday money.)

Lots of freebie 19th century classics including children's books through the Amazon store itself.

Also check out the Kindle deal of the day, usually around £1 and it changes at midnight each night. Some rubbish but a lot of great offers.

I love most of the authors on your list and was surprised to become engrossed in "The Girl with the Dragon tattoo" and the two further books. If you like these, also try the Jo Nesbo books. Neither author was one I thought I would enjoy.

Nah, just babble incoherently online.

Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time

I've also read the books you rate and had the same reaction. Try Tiger Hills as I loved that one too.

If you liked Harry Potter why not try Susan Cooper's The Dark is rising series. The first book, Over Sea Under Stone, is more obviously a children's book but nonetheless enjoyable, they are getting darker as they go along (I'm on book 3 now).
