Finished it this morning and now feel a bit lost - I don't know what to do with myself. Loved it and don't know what to read next now.

I know - it was great!

I ended up marching to the library and scooping up anything/everything that looked good - currently re-reading the Jasper Fforde canon :)

WannaBeMegMarch · 21/05/2012 08:25

I am about quarter way through this and found myself going to bed last night and reading something else (Bill Bryson 'At Home' which is a nice book).
I want to eke out the enjoyment as long as possible. Grin
Is she going to write another after this?

robotcornysilk · 21/05/2012 09:35

hopefully she will as he has to meet his gruesome end!

This is our next book club book - looking forward to it after really enjoying Wolf Hall. I have heard that there's going to be another.

ClodiaMetelli · 21/05/2012 17:01

Just re-reading Wolf Hall now before getting stuck in.

Yes there is going to be another, it's a planned trilogy Smile

evenkeel · 22/05/2012 00:16

Thank goodness there'll be another. I broke my own rule and bought 'Bring Up the Bodies' in hardback

But after practically inhaling 'Wolf Hall', I couldn't wait for the paperback to come out Blush

alana39 · 23/05/2012 15:10

That's how I felt after finishing Wolf Hall - towards the end of that I started reading only a little every day to make it last. Have never done that before, but am doing the same with Bring Up The Bodies already.

It helps that it's so bloody big and I've been at work lots recently, so have been carrying a kindle rather than a hardback. Evenkeel that is generally my rule too.

ThePathanKhansWitch · 23/05/2012 15:28

Just read Wolf Hall. Superlative doesn't come close, can't wait for BUTB, I wonder if I'll find it any easier?
I was about 200 pages in before I could just go with the narrative.Blush

Derklugehans · 23/05/2012 16:33

Do you need to have read Wolf Hall, or is it stand-alone to some extent? Some of my book club were intimidated by Wolf Hall, but I would like to get Bring up the Bodies for us.

And yes, is the grammatical structure any easier?

robotcornysilk · 23/05/2012 17:04

you could read it without wolf hall I think if you know the story of the Boelyn's (sp?) and Cromwell.
Dunno whether it's easier or not - I've lent out Wolf Hall now so can't compare.
Still haven't found anything to read after it.

Derklugehans - the grammatical structure is easier. Whenever she wants to make it clear it's Cromwell talking, she says "He, Cromwell" rather than just "He". Why she can't just say "Cromwell", I don't know!

I found it interesting but also a slightly depressing need, with all those people being executed. Also, not much suspense as we all know how it turns out.

Sorry if that sounds underwhelming - it's worth reading, and I would definitely recommend it, especially if you enjoyed Wolf Hall.

Derklugehans · 23/05/2012 20:07

Thanks...I'm sure she had to do something about He meaning Cromwell, except when it didn't. Grin

Get0rfMoiLand · 23/05/2012 20:27

I also loathe hardbacks but certainly think I will need to but this one.

I loved Wolf Hall so much - I devoured it in a weekend (nobody got fed) and haven't felt such satisfaction in reading a novel for years.

I am so glad people like Bring up the Bodies as well. Such a macabre title as well.

mimbleandlittlemy · 28/05/2012 17:13

Finished it on Friday and had to have a 48 hour non-reading policy while I coped with feeling bereft.

The awful thing is book 3 sure ain't going to have a happy ending... Sad

WannaBeMegMarch · 29/05/2012 16:31

I am still ekeing out this one (see earlier post Grin ). Am so enjoying it. I am finding it easier to get into than Wolf Hall but perhaps thats because I am already acclimatised to the language she uses? Yes- we all know what happens next but somehow (for me) that makes it all the more interesting as she writes the intrigues and plotting and psychology so well.......
I have read 2 other books during BUTB.......bookish saddo of the week?
