It is good Bornsicky
Loved the Tripods and Prince In Waiting trilogies when I was younger, but I hadn't heard of Death of Grass until recently when it was repeblished.

BornSicky · 10/05/2012 20:42

haven't read either of them, but thanks - i've now gpt two to add to my reading list!

bruffin · 10/05/2012 20:55

The Tripods is like a sequel to War of The Worlds.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/05/2012 20:57

The second Hunger Games book - am extremely unimpressed thus far.

suburbandream · 10/05/2012 21:00

I have just finished When God Was a Rabbit by Sarah Winman, it is amazing, beautiful and sad. Now I'm reading Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Caroll which is far more bonkers than I remembered from childhood! I don't think I ever actually read the book as a child but it is one of those which is ingrained in your memory as the story is so well known

timetosmile · 10/05/2012 21:01

No Time Like the Present, by Nadine Gordimer - one of my favourite authors, and one of only two to make me cry on public transport
But needing a bit of P+Q to concentrate and do it justice (always in short supply in our house)

suzikettles · 10/05/2012 21:02

I've just finished A Dance With Dragons - started with Game of Thrones when the tv series first came out in the UK and I've been working my way through ever since. I'm at a bit of a loss now, since it'll probably take George RR Martin another 5 years to get book 6 out.

Today I got John Irving's new book, In One Person, delivered to my Kindle. I didn't really get on with his last one (was gutted because he's my all time favourite writer) so I'm less excited than I'd normally be, but hopefully this will be a good one.

Into The Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Haynes, I cannot put it down!

NoraHelmer · 11/05/2012 07:54

How to be a woman by Caitlin Moran. I like it so far

ProfCoxWouldGetIt · 11/05/2012 08:27

Reading some Robert Rankin tosh - I really don't like his books, but I have read every other book in the house.

I really need to sort out my amazon account so I can use my kindle.

Half Blood Blues By Esi Edugyan

Thought I'd try and read all of the Orange Prize shortlist.

State of Wonder by Ann Patchett next.

PotteringAlong · 11/05/2012 13:40

metro 2033 as recommended off another thread - really enjoying it.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/05/2012 17:32

Just finished the second 'Hunger Games' - it was rubbish. Don't think I'll bother with the third.

DontHaveAtv · 11/05/2012 18:40

Just finished Fifty Shades of Grey to see what all the fuss was about and it wasn't great.
I'm now reading Divergent.

pointythings · 11/05/2012 20:40

Sara Paretsky - Body Work. I'm gradually reading my way through all the V.I. Warshawski books, she's such a beautifully drawn character.

Have some vampire porn paranormal romance lined up next. Eclectic tastes, that's me.

NoraHelmer · 12/05/2012 08:48

Just started Untold Story by Monica Ali.

underthevalley · 12/05/2012 12:15

Obedience by Jacqueline Yallop
I'm sure my nuns were not like that.

five I love Absolution.

minsmum · 12/05/2012 16:24

The Passage by Justin Cronin. quite enjoying it so far

jetstar · 12/05/2012 16:51

Just finished Girl Reading which I borrowed from the library and I enjoyed, despite the fact that I'm not especially a fan of short stories. Some of the suggestions on this thread sound interesting and have given me ideas of what to read next so thanks Smile

PercyFilth · 12/05/2012 16:56

The Wind Through The Keyhole , the new Stephen King 'Dark Tower' story. I do love Oy! :)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/05/2012 17:01

Just finished, 'Dark Matter' by Michelle Paver after a rec on MN. Didn't think an awful lot of it though. I haven't got anything to read now but dp has ordered me, 'All Quiet On The Western Front' and, 'Slaughterhouse Five' from the library (have given up on buying fiction, other than Stephen King or from charity shops because most of it is so awful).

bunnybing · 15/05/2012 12:29

Currently reading My Dear, i have to tell you by Lousia Young. Rather a clunky title but good so far - is about WW1.

prettymum · 15/05/2012 12:44

Just finished reading Slammed by Colleen Hoover and it was absolutely brilliant. Starts off a bit mushy but it kind of sets the story off and by the end of it I laughed and cried. I'm going to start on the second one now Point of Retreat.

DiscoDaisy · 15/05/2012 12:51

I'm just about to finish The Heretic's Treasure by Scott Mariani. It's number 4 in a series of books by him. I'm not too sure what I'm going to read yet but The Misremembered Man is looking favourite at the moment.
I have The House By The Sea on my Kindle which looks good but I'm trying to save that for when I go on holiday next month!

juneybean · 15/05/2012 20:36

Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard - totally easy fluffy read
