Why the Jeff does it end so abruptly?

It is just as though the author simply stopped writing and wandered off.

Well that's exactly it really, isn't it? Have you known anyone with dementia? I thought it was a frighteningly realidtic look into their mind

You're right of course. I thought it was really well written. I also like how the husband was portrayed. Showing how hard it must be to see the person you love going through that stuff but also the frustration.

I haven't known anyone with dementia but DH has a strong family history. I read this because I want to start learning about it. Can never discuss it with DH as he is terrified of what happened to his Dad happening to him.

Guess I need to do lots more reading!

Sorry just re read and that sounds snotty. What I meant was her mind did just wander off to the extent she could no longer write. I assumed it would end in her death I have to say and the question would just be whether it was by her own hand or not. I actually think this was a more realistic ending, well donw to the ahthor for not neatly tying up all loose ends, this disease doesn't.
I was also impressed by the husband, it was clear how frustrated and understandably selfish he was. Was she violent as well? I can't remember. I cried when you saw how her answers to her key questions changed, and by the end she didn't even know she was asking them. The one thing I didn't recognise was the periods of clarity, eg when she gave the lecture. My grandmas descent was a lot more all encompassing, though I suppose it may be to do with age and previous ability.
