I need to start a new book soon as I've not read one for about 5 days, which is a new record for me!

The last book I read was me before you by jojo moyes and I absolutely loved that.
I also enjoyed room, before I go to sleep and lasting damage by Sophie Hannah.

At the moment I like thriller / crime books, nothing too gory or disturbing though!

I just wondered if anyone had any reccomendations before I start scouring through the amazon kindle chart!

Thanks Smile

Have you read Stieg Larsson's The Millennium Trilogy? A little bit gory at times, but good. I've read the first two so far.

Cuckoo........ i enjoyed it a lot.

I've not read the millennium trilogy, is that the girl with the dragon tattoo etc?
My friend started them and said they was very gory.

Cuckoo sounds very good, I've just read a few reviews on amazon. Smile

If you want a "gentle" murder mystery, I've recently read the "Ivy Malone" series on Kindle - they are either free or under £2 (and it can change daily for some unknown reason) - Ivy is a "Little Old Lady" who gets caught up in various scenarios. They have a bit of religion in them, Ivy is a Christian and it figures in the books a bit, but it's not overpowering or totally offputting, just there iyswim. She's a sort of American Miss Marple, but the plots aren't nearly as convoluted Grin

Stuart Pawson is a good author for gentle crime.

Thanks, I will have a look into both of those authors!

Hopefully will be starting one tonigh Smile

Ruth Rendell? There is a police series (Wexford) and also one-off novels.

DontHaveAtv · 30/04/2012 11:03

Charlaine Harris Aurora Teagarden books are good.

I think Sophie Hannah can be pretty disturbing actually .. especially Hurting Distance.

That aside, I'd strongly recommend Susan Hill's Simon Serailler crime novels. Absorbing, good characterisation, not too gory. She is a really good writer.

myflabberisgasted · 01/05/2012 09:53

I've only read "Lasting damage" by Sophie Hannah and "The point of rescue" I really enjoyed them.
Might give "hurting distance! a miss then!

Susan Hill's books sound very good, i've added them to my wish list on Amazon, thanks for the reccomendation! Smile

I didn't like the Susan Hill books, they are more family-soap-in-cathedral-town than crime, and I found the characters unlikeable. Especially her detective (who seems to to do hardly any detecting) he comes across as a most unpleasant individual. I don't think that's what she intended :o
