Hi there, I've never posted before so I hope you don't mind me jumping straight in with a question?
7 years ago I borrowed a book from the local library. It was set in the future about 'the system' and how the government of the day controlled the population with credits, there was no cash & everyone was traceable. A super-power was trying to take over the world & two people, man & wife were trying to escape the 'system' by sailing in a boat away. It all sounds rather far fetched as I describe it, but it wasn't really, it was rather fascinating & sinister. I would love to read this book again, but I don't know the title or the author! I've asked at the library to see if it's in my lending history, but they don't go back that far.
Does anyone recognise it from my description? I read it in the days before smartphones & checking-in at locations etc, but part of the story was also about how the powers watched the population using similar devices to
iPhones & other smart-phones.
If anyone recognises it and knows the title or author, I'd be eternally grateful!
