Calling all avid and bright book lovers! This forlorn lady requests your help:) I have not read in ages and I am now craving a good book to get back into the healthy habit. I walked into several good bookstores and got totally lost. So could someone point me in the direction of a book that generally speaking is the following:a novel with a really human depth to it..one that is both moving and intriguing ..I want something to keep me going and revitalise my mind and mood for reading! So please help and suggest some good novels for me with if i may also add a tiny idea of what the novel is about ( greedy lady that I am !)!

Two books I've read recently which I absolutely loved were The Paris Wife by Paula McLain and My Dear I Wanted to tell You by Louisa Young. Both intelligently written and thought-provoking novels. I would recommend them both.

How about the Help or Me Before You? Both seem to fit your criteria and both are enjoyable, easy reads. Don't be put off by the pink cover on Me Before You, the book has more depth than the cover suggests.

'Paula' by Isabel Allende. It's not quite a novel, it's more memoir combined with magic realism but it is absolutely magnificent. It's about her daughter dying after falling into a coma related to porphyria and is stunningly beautiful and heart-rendingly awful at the same time. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie I have read Paula, I found it extremely sad, it is beautiful, but a tad depressing, maybe because it my heart too close...

gypsymummy what sort of books you like, as in historical, biography... ?

Rebecca by Daphne de Maurier.

I'm not a massive consumer of books, but am trying to read some classics. Loved this.

Completely forgot, in the past when I haven't read for a while and want to get back into it I usually read one of the No 1 Ladies Detective Agency and that gets me straight back into it. You might also like Corduroy Mansions although they are longer books but still have a feel good factor at the end.
