Any suggestions please for she who shall no longer be judged by DH on the tube for her choice of sexy racy things to read Grin

But must be well-written!

Oh no...I downloaded a Shayla Black. It's hilarious! Absolutely awful in soooooo many ways. I skim read it. At least it was cheap.
I'm going to write my own.

NatureAbhorsAHoover · 12/04/2012 08:41

Anxious do give 'Kushiel's Dart' (first in a series) a try. And show us what you write as well!

Can't believe the recommendations for the Fifty Shades books in a thread on good writing - hell, I didn't even like them as Twific. Like Twilight, they tell you waaaay too much detail - I don't mean the filthy stuff, but in between - the restaurant napkins, and the heroine's apartment furniture, and - oh, just shoot me now. I know others have been pleased. But not me. And could the author please just accept her kink and drop the angst?

But is there any Buffy/Spike still out there????

NatureAbhorsAHoover · 25/04/2012 20:28

Just back from a lovely holiday where I was positively GLUED to my kindle... I did actually read some proper books like the good Guardianista that I am... but I also read some lovely escapist filth Blush and wanted to thank some of you:

almostfifty I finally caved in and read 50 shades of grey - and loved it! Yes some of the writing is a bit trite, but there's a degree of wit (her inner goddess jumping the gun constantly and her subconscious looking askance over half-moon specs) that I didn't expect, and it charmed me. I also like that they talked straight with each other and didn't do that tiresome willful- misunderstanding plot device that ruins so many romances for me.

bellabear and coffee you talked me into it and you are are quite right, the bhrhrotherhood are alhrhright once you get past the spellingHmm. I was again charmed, and I really enjoyed it - thanks.

omicron I'm coming to loiter (again) on TSA and I WANT some of those fic recs... Grin

oh and lastly sieglinde go to nautibitz.com where her superlative spuffy is still there for the taking... and tell me if you find anything that makes you laugh and juice up as much as that, I'm all ears Smile

What about Louise Bagshawe? Don't know anything about the books but heard they are raunchy.

NatureAbhorsAHoover · 27/04/2012 15:49

You mean Louise Mensch? Star of the Commons Select Committee and worlds-best-gasp when Rupert Murdoch got creampied? Yes, she has written some rather naughty passages and I would love to know what was going through her mind when she was grilling James Murdoch, who is annoying as fuck but still kind of hot. She has a thing for spanking...

Now there's another thread altogether...

OP posts:
TheSameButDifferent · 28/04/2012 00:10

Yes, her! Haven't read her books but may now!

pointythings · 28/04/2012 21:51

Yep, Louise Bagshawe does good filth. So does her sister, Tilly Bagshawe.

DilysPrice · 30/04/2012 16:14

Vox by Nicholson Baker is genuinely well written, and funny.

DilysPrice · 30/04/2012 16:17

....but not available on Kindle

theonewiththenoisychild · 30/04/2012 20:46

What order do the fifty books go in? Thinking of getting them Grin

Dolcegusto · 30/04/2012 22:25

Fifty shades of grey
Fifty shades darker
Fifty shades freed

theonewiththenoisychild · 01/05/2012 09:48

Thanks

Dolcegusto · 01/05/2012 14:49

Hope you enjoy them, I did Wink

NatureAbhorsAHoover · 01/05/2012 19:37

Just finished all three and really rather liked them despite some less-than-positive opinions I've heard on MN. They are a touch funny and wry in a way that so few sexeeee romances are, and did NOT follow the typical romance formula and by god it taught me a thing or two Shock

So, what next?

OP posts:
3mum · 02/05/2012 18:23

Anything by Lauren Dane (except for the witchy ones)

FabMum1 · 02/05/2012 21:07

Which unwitchy Lauren Dane ones are best?

3mum · 03/05/2012 16:15

I'd try Laid Bare or Fire and Rain. Her naughty bits are reasonably explicit but fit well into decent stories with well drawn characters. Enjoy! If you want really naughty but well written try anything by Joey W Hill. Definitely adult content though. I'm assuming everyone has found the Ellora's Cave website for all the naughty books you could ever wish to download?

talkingnonsense · 03/05/2012 16:23

Is the brotherhood straight or slashy? I like my fanfic of the latter variety!

tillyfernackerpants · 03/05/2012 17:05

It's straight, bit of a shame as there's so much slashy potential!

If you do like slash, hop over to the TSA thread, we have lots & lots of recs Grin,

solidgoldbrass · 03/05/2012 22:03

I'm just going to be bad and send you all here. Veteran MNer, honest, nice ham, friday night bumsex. Etc.

NatureAbhorsAHoover · 16/05/2012 19:09

3mum I rashly went straight to Amazon and kindled up some Joey W Hill

Shock + Blush + Shock Shock Shock + a few Grin

Oh. My. God.
