I am a voracious reader and I have run out of books / authors and really, really need you to recommend someone to me, (preferably with a huge back catalogue that I can really get my teeth into).

I've read everything by: Val McDermid, Ruth Rendell, Karin Slaughter, Tess Gerritsen, Patricia Cornwell, Agatha Christie, Mary Higgins-Clark, Jeffrey Archer, Lee Child, Jo Nesbo, Sidney Sheldon and Michael Connelly.

Is Reginald Hill worth pursuing? (I loved the Woodcutter) but haven't read anything else by him.

What about Mo Hayder? I read Pig Island and it made me feel very strange inside. Are her other books so disturbing?

Is there someone I should be reading and have somehow missed?

Please help, I need stimulation.....

Loads of my favourite authors mentioned here!

If I had to pick 1 that you haven't read definitely read Mark Billingham, Sleepyhead is a fantastic book.

OK I've read all of Mo Hayders books now, they are all fab, very, very chilling stuff. She has had me gripped with every book

who next to read then!!

Another vote for Kathy Reich love her books. I like James Patterson's murder club series.

I love Christopher brookmyre (or Chris as he now seems to be!) and minette Walters is fab. Kate Atkinson is good too.

All of them have some books that are much better than the others though...

I have just finished Birdman- I was on the edge of my seat and couldn't put it down towards the end.

I am now toying with what to go for next from the list.

Dolly- you read fast! I have only managed one book in a week!

I put some recommendations earlier in the thread but wanted to add another that I've recently read (99p kindle edition that was good & definitely shows potential for the future)

Mark Sennen is the author, Touch is the title.

Wow! Have just found the Shardlake series by C J Sansom and they are unputdownable.

I have just finished Dark Fire and now have to wait 2 days for Sovereign to arrive Angry

Ooh great thread - have read lots of the authors mentioned but also some I haven't heard of so am also off to google and buy lots

I like JD Robb too - Nora Roberts in disguise so very fluffy/easy to read but I like the combo of crime and sci fi and all the sex

And if you like crime fiction, is anyone going to the Harrogate crime writing festival this year? I went for a day last year and got to meet my hero Lee Child. I'm there for two days this year and have booked in for all sorts of sessions - quite a few of the authors mentioned are going to be there. Posting on my phone do can't do a link but google Harrogate crime writing festival. Grin

I've just started and am enjoying The Expats by Chris Pavone. I feel very similar to the main character actually but only dreamt of living the secret agent life....!

DottyDot · 10/05/2012 17:15

Harrogate! Grin
