Kindle or kindle keyboard?

Hi im not great with computers/ technology but would really like to get a kindle not sure what the difference between they two are and why would you need a keyboard on it anyway? Are they easy to use and to buy the 'e books'? As i said I am really not great with all this technology! Where do you buy the e4 books from and are they the same sort of price as normal books or cheaper? Thnk you (sorry for all the questions) just not sure about ... anything really!
Do you need that power adapter thing or does a charger come with it?

I have a keyboard kindle and I do use it a lot

the newer kindle has a screen keybaord that you navigate with the arrow keys, bit faffy imo but suits some people

my kindle came with a charger but don't know about the new one

buying books is TOO easy

see here for differences and description

you buy books from Amazon, which is a disadvantage as you are tied in to them

pricing is totally random as far as I can tell, lots of free books but you have to sift through the junk to find the gems

lots of promotions though, I don't buy anything over £ 2-3

I have the new Kindle without the keyboard because I knew I'd never type on it!
Comes with the usb charger but you can buy a plug charger.

Books have to come from Amazon, some are roughly the same price or a bit cheaper, plenty at 99p/£1.79 ish and there are always loads free if you look.

I have a kindle with the screen keyboard and find it very easy to use and navigate - and it does come with a charger.

Buying books is really too easy as TheFoosa says. TOO easy! All you do is go to the kindle bookstore on your kindle, find a book you want to read, buy it and viola - it's on your kindle all ready to read. You can buy books from £0.00 upwards. Some ebooks are a bit more expensive than the paper equivalent.

The keyboard Kindle is wifi & 3G whereas the screen keyboard Kindle is just wifi.

I have the older keyboard one. But actually two of my kids also have books on their ipods using the kindle app.
I have 67 books, a lot of free classics, free new books, a couple of free samples, then lots bought from the Sales (about one sale a month and one specal deal everyday), and a few more expensive ones.
I love being able to want a book, find it, and have it instantly. So if you read a book and want the sequel it is so easy to get it.
The 99p sales have also encouraged me to buy books I would think about for a long time before maybe buying (Science books for example).
Also if you spend 99p on a book and it is rubbish, I don't feel so bad.
A lot of the project Guttenberg books are available from Amazon, and there are ways of getting those that aren't yet.
If you switch off the wireless (which is very easy to toggle on and off) the battery lasts ages.

thank you everyone very helpful! Do you need to be online to read or is it only to go on say amazon and get the book then you can read it whenever?

You don't need to be online to read.
You can either order books via your Kindle using either 3G or Wifi (depending on which one you have) or on your Amazon account on a computer and then turn on your Kindle and connect and the books automatically download.

I've hjad the new Kindle since Christmas and I find it almost too easy to download books. I've read loads of books that I wouldn't otherwise have looked at. (I've downloaded quite a bit of rubbish, too, but don't feel bad as they were free/99p).

One book I definitely would recommend is Nothing to Envy about North Korea.

I only use my Kindle to read books, so don't need the keyboard. A friend got a keyboard Kindle just before Christmas and tbh it almost put me off. It's so much bigger and heavier than the one I've got. My Kindle is almost a part of me still. I've got a leather cover (from DH) that I didn't initially want, but now I've got it I'm really glad as it seems to make the Kindle easier to hold. The new Kindle seems to fit in my handbag(s) very well.
