Audiobooks: could you share some good ones with me?

I seem to have a few credits that need using up on audible.co.uk, but aside from another Jo Nesbo (I love the voice of the guy who narrates them) to do the decorating to, I'm a bit out of inspiration.

I think it's harder because it needs to be a good novel AND a good narrator: I've already rejected a few because the reader has a horrible accent Blush

Once I get these I'm going to cancel my plan because I have about 200 hours of listening to get through...

Have you had the Alan Partridge autobiography? He's reading it, so it's one book that it really makes sense to get in audio form - much funnier than the written word.

Will investigate!

Alan Partridge audio is very good, though you may have issues if you listen in public as it's not done to snort with laughter as people around you become self conscious. :) I love my audible account, it did take me a while to become a bit more adventurous. I do find I have more problems with finding a decent narrator rather than a decent book to listen to. I'm more Fantasy and Young Adult based though so most of my recommendations would be pants for you.

I do love Stephen Fry reading Harry Potter to be my comfort listen.

I'm really enjoying the Steve Jobs biography, even though I have no particular interest in either technology or business. BUt it is a compelling listen.

Derek Jacobi reading the Cadfael books by Ellis Peters.

I have enjoyed The Long Song by Andrea Levy, The Essential letters from America by Alistair Cooke and The Code of the Woosters.
I have also listerned to The Children's Book which I doubt I would have been able to finish if I had read it!

Second the Brother Cadfael ones.

If you like Tony Hillerman's Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee books, they're narrated by George Guidall, quite wonderful, I thought.
