Any genre. We will read the book over Christmas and meet before New Year to discuss it, so we like something festive (but not necessarily cheerful).

'The Gift' by Cecelia Ahern? Light and short enough to be able to read over Christmas without them feeling burdened!

'A Redbird Christmas' by the fantastically named Fannie Flagg It's festive, homely, gentle yet surprisingly enjoyable :)

A Week In December by Sebastien Faulks isn't really festive but is set in London the week preceeding christmas and is hugely relevent to contemporary issues of today.
