Has anyone read this?

She is an amazing writer and has a way of looking back at her life with such clarity and compassion.

Thanks for linking to that IB, I love her writing, and find her an admirable and remarkable woman.

I do too - I love her work and her. Her mother doesn't know how lucky she was to have her.

Thank you for the link.
A fantastic woman - Oranges is still one of my favourite books.

Thanks for posting that link Imperial. I would have missed it. I love Jeanette Winterson, she writes with lovely imagery.

... and passion

The weirdest thing happened today! I have a new smart phone (ooo, get me!) and told DH I'd see what The Guardian website looked like on it. He said, it'll be the same as on the computer - articles about how difficult it is to get into good state schools and Jeanette Winterson going on about her mum...and there it was (JW, not schools - as far as I know!)! He definitely hadn't seen the paper yet.

Anyway, I thought it was a really good article. She's been a fave of mine for many years now. Yes, real clarity and a great narrator.

Did anyone see the article about Alice in Wonderland? That was interesting too.

PippiLongBottom · 29/10/2011 18:31

I love her although I can't be swayed on Sexing the Cherry.

rycooler · 29/10/2011 18:37

ha ha - It is that predictable isn't it. The Daily Mail has immigrants and house prices - The Guardian has JW and her mother.

PippiLongBottom · 29/10/2011 18:42

Hmm, now I have read the article I can appreciate Dogwoman and can understand the alternative reading.

This is book of the week, this week on radio 4. Did anyone hear it? If not I think it will be on their website.

It's amazing that she can write about her early years with such humour.

AgentProvocateur · 31/10/2011 14:28

I read this last night - I thought it was terribly sad to be put up for adoption and then to end up with a mother like that. I love JW's writing, and I'm going to find the R4 broadcast now, thanks, AurraSing.

I do recommend the readings on Book of the Week - Listen Again until next Monday
