I read a lot, at least 20 a week and am struggling to find new ones to read. I like pretty easy going stuff as it's mainly for night shifts so I need to pick it up and put it down
Read most chick lit, jodi picoult, jojo moyes, war romance stuff, I like Lyndon Stacey too
Won't read sci fi or heavy war stuff but open to anything else!!

Oh might have a look at blogs. I do have one but it's mainly dressage/horse related
Tonights reads are
Jill mansell - to the moon and back
Lynda page - secrets to keep
Erica James - act of faith (halfway through)

Have you read Jennifer Crusie. Welcome to temptation, bet me etc they are rather fun

dd is like this ... she can get through several books in a day ... her comprehension and retention are fantastic, but she's starting to get annoyed that she gets through books so quickly. She's obsessed with animals and has read countless pony/cat/wildlife/animal shelter books and we're now running out of things to try (she's gone through all the classic animal stories I can find too) I'm trying to get her to broaden her range and tackle something that will make her think a little more to slow her down a bit - and that's the same advice I'd give the OP ... break out of your comfort zone and give your brain a bit more to go on - there are millions of books out there ....

bright if you got a kindle you could join the MN Kindle Reading Club and get books for free, have you checked to see if your local library service loan out ebooks too? Know that some libraries loan them out for two weeks.

For you though I think it would be an add on rather than a replacement for real books.

basildon have you given DD the James Herriot books or failing that maybe she should start reading some veterinary text books [hsmile].

I'm impressed, especially at your retention. I read quite slowly and have still forgotten enough about a book to re-read it six months later.

Have you read any John Irving? He's written quite a few and they're quite absorbing, especially A Prayer for Owen Meanie and The World According to Garp.

basildon - I loved pony stories!! How about the heartland series, saddle club, the old ones like the Jill series?
James Herriot were a fave too but I also liked school books - chalet school, mallory towers etc
