I'm going to offer Brooklyn as a suggestion but does anyone else have anything that was really enjoyed by their bookgroup?

We did '100 days of Sodom' by Marquis de Sade once. My, that was an interesting discussion.

We did 'The 5 People..' too. I thought it was tripe - but that's what you want isn't it - something that splits opinions? The Shadow of the Wind wasn't bad and quite a good book club book, as is anything by John Irving.

My last reading group's book was The Vagrants by Yiyun Li which prompted a fab evening's discussion.

Our next book is a non-fiction: The Time Traveller's Guide to Medieval England. (Forgotten the writer!)

We loved Brixton Beach.

Eleven by Mark Watson. It is about what we do and don't do that affects 11 people's lives, I loved it!

Room by Emma Donoghue.

I would like to suggest something new. It was recommended to me by Samazon and I think it is one of the best books I have ever read. It is called Loss De Plott, a little like the Little Prince but it gets you thinking about the legacy we are leaving our kids, fantastic illustrations.

The White Woman on the Green Bicycle is a good book club read. Also second Kate Atkinson.

The Shadow of the Wind was the best BC book I ever read. Mainly because I would usually have ditched that kind of book

'Room' is excellent, I thought I'd find it depressing but it's actually weirdly uplifting.
The book club I'm in have read the following
'The Sisters Brothers' which is a western, very good
'Restless' William Boyd
'Jasper Jones'
And wait for it.....50 Shades! Which has been a very controversial choice!
When its mine turn I'm going to choose 'The Hanging Shed'

'my' not 'mine'!!!
