Guilty Pleasures?

Last year we were on holiday in the US and spent a week in Utah, where I Ran Out Of Books. The only bookshop we came across was a Mormon one and though the lovely lady tried very hard I had read everything non religious that she offered. In desperation I read 61 Hours by Lee Child which I read without pause, and since then I've read every Jack Reacher book. I've had to eat my words as I had previously mocked my husbands love of them. Is there anything you love that you never expected to?

I am the same as you about Jack Reacher, had never read anything like that stuff before, more into history and war book etc.
Have you read the Mitch Rapp books as well? They are really good too.

Philippa Gregory, although I kind of expected to like them because I love anything to do with the Tudor/Elizabethan period. They're not great, not amazingly written, but she does good research and they're often pretty gripping.

Almost anything about vampires. Including the Anita Blake series, one of which is called Guilty Pleasures I think!

Well, similar to yourself, we were on holiday in a holiday let, and I picked up one of the books left behind. I thought it was fiction, but it turned out to be true crime - and since then I've read loads, particularly by Ann Rule.

I feel a bit voyeuristic and not very nice but sadly I seem to enjoy reading them.

The 'vampires' were an obsession for about a year, but it was a common obsession, otherwise sane middle aged women would clutch my arm in excitement. We had lengthy chats about how much we longed for dramatic all consuming romantic love. I've never really read True Crime, or detective fiction apart from Agatha Christie. I did love The Other Boleyn Girl, so might try some more historical stuff.

Kathy Reichs books about Temperance Brennan. They are largely similar to each other but they're a great 'easy'read.
