I was having coffee with some friends the other day, in a cafe , It seems somebody must have pushed my bag away and stole my purse and my KINDLE, i was and still am so upset. I managed to sort out my cards and only had 20 euro in it. But i loved loved my kindle so much, it was the best thing i have got, as i live eat and breathe books. It helped me so much as my eyes are bad and it made reading so much easier. I rang Amazon and they told me all the books i had purchased would still be there, should i buy a new one. At the moment i could not justify it so it wont happen any time soon. The thief is now able to use it. Also i had a nice cover on it, but never thought to put my name on it. All i had was a few little notes my dd left me in there as they know they would be found, Mammy always has her Kindle.

:(
Do you have insurance you can claim for a new one? And have you reported to the police as insurance will need crime number if you do have insurance. I think Amazon are releasing a new smaller, faster, cheaper kindle for about £89 or so DH was telling me. I don't have a Kindle (yet) but I would be absolutely gutted too.

Here although might be too small for you?

Daveschooks · 29/09/2011 09:29

Make sure that you go onto amazon and deactivate you account so that the book thief can't get more books and newspapers on your money.

That,s funny, the book thief; I did speak to Amazon yesterday and decativate my account. He did say the thief will be able to use it. I am living in Brussels, pick pockects are rife here for some reason. I do have insurance but would they not cover it when it was stolen outside the home. I may consider buying a refurbished one at some stage.

Poor you. I read this earlier and have been checking my bag, (for my Kindle) all day. I really sympathise. I hope you can get the new one soon.

Really feel for you sprout, I've got poor eyesight and just love mine. Sort of sat on mine the other night and really don't know what to do with myself.

Hope you do manage to get a replacement somehow.

Oh no:( I thought I had lost mine earlier in the year. Was frantic for two days, until it suspiciously turned up on the sofa one morning. Turned out my 8 year old had borrowed it to read Alice in Wonderland, but had 'forgotten' to ask, then got scared because I was on a frantic search for it >_<

I hope you manage to get a reconditioned one relatively cheaply.

Sorry, forgot to put a comment with the link. It's to win a Kindle.

Andie20521 · 07/10/2011 21:19

What kind of phone do you have? If its a smartphone android/iphone type you can get a free Kindle app, which would tide you over until you can replace it.

In fact I bought a Kindle for DH's birthday, as he was using the free app on his phone, and he still prefers that as it means he has always got it on him, and its less stuff to tote about...so I have the Kindle and love it! Honestly it wasn't an evil plan to buy myself one...

So sorry to hear this! I have been robbed twice in Brussels since we got here 5 years ago - once in a bar, and once on the tram. I know how upsetting it is. It won't bring back your kindle, but please look after your bag wherever you are. I came a from a small town in the UK where such pickpockting was not common. Brussels is no worse than any other big city, but still.....

deactivate your card from the amazon account
as a tip I know a bit late now but I have password protected mine no password you can't get in the thing
I am with you would also be gutted if it went but all your books will still be in your amazon library
