DS1 is just turned three and is enjoying longer, more involved stories. Still need pictures though at this point I think.

We have lots of books which he enjoys but he keeps saying he wants longer stories...

Any suggestions?

My 3 year old dd likes Man on the Moon: A Day in the Life of Bob and Dougal's Deep Sea Diary by the same author. Excellent stories and the pictures are fantastic with lots of 'in' jokes.

Charlie & Lola books?

Here Comes the Crocodile is nice to!

Don't let him see it! Few pictures, so real reason to show him! ;)

Oh, and ds's favourite library book when was 3 was Little Rocket's Special Star

tissy · 11/11/2005 20:38

How about Mr Magnolia? Great pictures, plenty to talk about and the rhyming is great fun

Clayhead · 11/11/2005 20:38

If you have Man on the Moon then Dougal's... is good as the theme of alien jokes continues and there is even one illustration with a spaceship heading the for moon in the background!

actually he is really into rhyming words at the moment
'what rhymes with dad? mad and bad...hahah!'

Anything by Nick Butterworth (Percy the Parkeeper, QPootle5 and others) or Mick Inkpen (Kipper, Wibbly Pig, Bear stories)

My ds2 is 3. He likes Jez Alborough (Duck in The Truck, Fix-It Duck, Captain Duck - all good for rhyme) and R & D Armitage (The Lighthouse Keeper's Cat, The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch - good for vocabulary). Don't know if they're that much longer than the ones you've mentioned but they've been hugely enjoyed by our boys (ds1 is 5) so I thought I'd mention them.

I'll post again if I think of any more!

We have the Usborne Book of Fairy Tales which has all the main fairy tales, but in very short form with lovely pics - ds1 has loved it since he was around 3 - although some of the concepts are difficult, his fave is Goldilocks.
