What aload of fucking drivel! Seriously.

Why? Why? Why would the author type the word "like" into every other sentence. They never did that with the originals!
And i'm sorely disappointed that they didnt use the original cheesy descriptions of their athletic size 6 figures and blue green eyes the colour of the pacific blah blah.

Glad it only took me a couple of hours to read and that I didnt waste any longer on it!

who wrote it?

sounds that bad i may actualy read it Grin

SecretNutellaFix · 04/05/2011 17:37

Why don't you re-read HP?

AmazingBouncingFerret · 04/05/2011 17:40

I do have the boxset just sitting there staring at me..
The trouble is now that i'm not all too wired up on painkillers to read i'm bored of sitting down and doing nothing and am not in the mood to read! Gah.

gkys it's by Francine Pascal and would only make sense if you read Sweet Valley High when you were younger! Grin

Elizabeth and Jessica wakefield! i loved those as a teen Grin i wanted to marry bruce

Honeydragon · 04/05/2011 17:48

Is it really really crap? Like you actually have to read it to see how crap it is? I might have to give it a go Grin

nikki1978 · 04/05/2011 17:50

I didn't realise at that age that size 6 was a 10 here. I would have been very happy if I had known that as I was a 10 then. I did love them and had every book but don't want this new one to spoil my memories so will avoid it I think!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 04/05/2011 17:50

I sooooo want to post the spoilers but I shall resist. Grin

Buy it, read it, it's crap but you'll love it.

I have to confess I do read a lot of crap Grin its like chewing gun for the eyes

MrsKwazii · 04/05/2011 17:57

Ah, their gold lavaliers and the freckle on one of their shoulders so that you could tell them apart Grin They were a load of readable tripe then, so am not suprised this lots are drivel. The originals were 'created by' Francine Pascal but other people wrote them as far as I remember. Maybe she's writen the new stuff and that's why it's crap?

Have always wondered if Kate Moss was a SWH fan, calling her daughter Lila Wink

MrsKwazii · 04/05/2011 17:57

And I always loved the fact that there was a character called Sandy Bacon, what a shite name!

farkthatforagameofsoldiers · 04/05/2011 18:06

Your thread has moved me to download a sample for my Kindle to check if it really is as awful as you describe. Bloody love that sample option on Amazon! Have avoided some horrors by reading the samples first.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 04/05/2011 20:33

Ah yes MrsKwazii the gold lavaliers make a brief yet poignant appearence! Grin

Ooh can you remember Point Horror books? They were shit an' all

CatPower · 05/05/2011 11:05

Point Horror books were amazing for a sheltered 10-year-old me. RL Stine's "The Babysitter" especially. (Can't remember the others...)

There was another book from the "Point" range called Sati (Christopher Pike maybe?) about a girl who was picked up by a trucker who turned out to be god. I remember that going around our classroom pretty regularly too.

saxony · 05/05/2011 22:20

I loved Point Horror books when I was little too....Trick or Treat by Richie Tankersley Cusick frightened the life out of me!! I think I still have them here somewhere......

horseyrider · 07/05/2011 15:57

Having read and loved the originals, I was inspired by the original mumsnet thread on this book and bought it. Haven't read it yet, though, as I am halfway through the Millenium trilogy. Have had a peak, and it looks interesting. A sort of "Danielle Steele" for teenagers. Very good for nostalgia reasons!

Aworryingtrend · 11/05/2011 10:40

I concur, it was shite. So much repetitition, if you took out the repetitition the book would only be 20 pages or so. There is one massive unexpected plot twist but thats it.

CrapBag · 11/05/2011 19:26

I was going to start a thread the other day asking what people thought, then I forgot.

I was a massive SV fan but I found the outcomes of this book very unbelivable, particularly who ends up with who and how people change very drastically from how they used to be. Its very unrealistic and I also didn't like the way it was written when it was Jessica talking, 'like' all the time etc. She sounded like she was still a teenager, talking like that.

Great quote though from Alice Wakefield "Ned, bring out the fucking cake"
