Another one of Shiney's recommendations comes up trumps Grin. I read the kindle edition in one sitting today, I was that gripped. Imagine the woman from 50 First Dates wakes up in her forties, but she's not in a quirky romantic comedy with Adam Sandler, but trapped in a nightmare with a husband she doesn't know if she can trust or not...

(and let's forget, for the sake of argument, that waking up with Adam Sandler would be any less terrifying)

I urge you to give this one a go if you enjoy a good psychological thriller.

Sophie Hannah recommended this in something I read last week - sounds really good.

kellym2b · 01/07/2012 08:34

Great read, read in 3 days which is good for me. Great twist too!

factotum · 01/07/2012 08:39

Excellent book it was my first Kindle purchase and I loved it.

ElectricSoftParade · 01/07/2012 08:39

I really enjoyed this. I have just started Lasting Damage by Sophie Hannah which seems like another winner.

PurpleKittyKnitting · 01/07/2012 08:42

I just started reading this last night! I don't normally read this kind of stuff but felt like a change.

I am a pretty slow reader, will probably take a few months to finish!

GrapesAnatomy · 01/07/2012 10:08

I've read this. It was excellent! I stupidly started it at bedtime and ended up waking up at 6 am the next morning to finish it off (am a fast skim reader).

I get impatient with books that don't get into the story fast enough (how I ever read Captain Corelli's mandolin I don't know!) so after the first 20 pages I was starting to get a bit twitchy but there was that underlying sense of something is going on here that kept me interested and I really, really enjoyed it.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 01/07/2012 16:10

Couldn't disagree more. It is a good story but poorly written and the middle is dire, just wanted the author to more the story on more quickly and it should be far less repetitive. It will make a great film with a good team behind it.

NicknameTaken · 01/07/2012 17:23

I wasn't that impressed. It was readable enough, but the twist was so heavily signalled that I was expecting it to be some kind of double bluff by the author. And I almost never guess plot twists.

NoraHelmer · 01/07/2012 20:45

I agree with Jilted. I didn't like it at all, and I love a good thriller. I felt disappointed and let down - was expecting it to be really edge-of-seat good and it wasn't.

MissM · 01/07/2012 21:58

I hated this book. Great idea, but soooo badly written. I couldn't be bothered with it in the end and skim read to the end.

BillyBollyBandy · 01/07/2012 22:07

I liked it but guessed the ending and like nicknametaken never guess endings!

I didn't think it was that well written then I read "50 shades" and realised it is, in fact, a masterpiece in comparison

cocolepew · 01/07/2012 22:12

I got it cheap on my my phone e book I enjoyed it ok but it wasnt up to the standard of the writers I usually read (mostly American).

BOF look out The Last Child by John Hart a beautifully written thriller.

cocolepew · 01/07/2012 22:13

You got your name back!

NicknameTaken · 02/07/2012 11:12

Ha, billybolly, you're not setting the bar very high!

BillyBollyBandy · 02/07/2012 18:48

I'm limbo-ing under the bar Nickname Wink

SooticaTheWitchesCat · 05/07/2012 11:30

I loved this book, I was gripped from beginning to end!

ashesgirl · 05/07/2012 14:31

Thought it was pretty diabolical. Why would he go out and leave her all day alone like that?

Also didn't like Scooby Doo style ending.

NoraHelmer · 05/07/2012 18:41

Wonder what the film's going to be like? May not bother with it :)

CoteDAzur · 05/07/2012 18:44

It wasn't literature, but I didn't expect it to be. It was a light read that still managed to hold my interest and raise some interesting questions re memory and its role in identity.

IceCreamCastles · 05/07/2012 18:45

Read this (all) when in labour with ds.

Can hardly remember any of it!

ashesgirl · 05/07/2012 19:28

Ice cream Grin

Prob just as well.

TheLightPassenger · 05/07/2012 21:20

ashes - yes I thought the ending was pretty dreadful. Thought the first 80% of the book was great, if you suspent disbelief a touch, but the end ruined it for me.

CoteDAzur · 08/07/2012 16:12

Where did you think you had to suspend disbelief? I'm curious.

Pancakeflipper · 08/07/2012 16:16

I was disappointed. A good idea but no way near as thrilling as I thought it would be.

LeB0f · 08/07/2012 16:19

Yeah, in retrospect it wasn't all that. I will look up The Last Child, thanks Cocolepew. I've just read When God Was A Rabbit, and that was a bit disappointing by the end, it just ran out of steam.
