What Jilly Cooper should I buy?

I am a Cooper virgin. Shall I buy Riders? Is it quite romantic or just full of shagging? Shock

Also, any other recommendations for romanticy books (with maybe just a bit of shagging)would be most welcome! I am preggers and need some literary TLC Smile

I read them all about 10 years ago! They go in a chronological order and from what I remember, Riders is first then Rivals and I can't remember from there...

Basically just lots of shagging. But quite fun and a nice entertaining easy read. Good sunbathing books for me. Grin

In order they are (IIRC) Riders, Rivals, Polo, The Man Who Made Husbands Jealous, Score, Pandora and Wicked

I much preferred TMWMHJ and Score to all the others

Basically lots of shagging, but essentially a bit romantic and an easy story

I quite like Jilly Cooper. The books mentioned are lots of shagging and also some romance. Main prob I found with these books were that there are so many characters that on the first read I kept on getting confused as to who was who. Personally I would start with one of her older ones. She did some in the seventies I think, titled with the heroine's name, e.g. Bella, Emily, Prudence, Octavia, Harriet, Imogen, Lisa & Co (this last is a collection of short stories), can't remember if there were any more. These are less shagging, more romance and with a much smaller cast of characters.

Rivals is my favourite by a long way, but you should probably read Riders first (although it doesn't really matter).

I don't think she ever did better than Rivals, not that it stopped me reading all her other books Blush

I know all her romances pretty much off by heart - I spent all of one wet Easter holidays reading them when I was about 14 and have read them nostalgically about a gazillion times since. Harriet, Imogen and Prudence all good and only take a few hours to read, unlike the bonkbusters.

Also Class & The Common Years are a good, light read (Class is about, well, class & pretty funny, and the Common Years is a diary)

Suzi, I agree with you completely. I love Rivals, and still read it from time to time. Love, love love the story, am hoping for my own RC-B to show up soon!

Thanks all!

Frawli, I think I have read some of their earlier ones! All about secretaries mostly who have to give up work when they get engaged. A bit dated but rather nice.
