Has anyone read this? I've just finished it and need someone to discuss it with (book club doesn't meet until March to talk about it)!

Vintage - not read Starter for Ten (hadn't even heard of it or One Day until very recently, been out of the book scene for so long with young children getting in the way etc!)

Have you read anything else recently you'd recommend to a fellow "disappointed in one day" MNer? Hoping to make more time to read in the near future. Smile

Have recently read Summer of the Bear by Bella Pollen - really enjoyed that.

anonymousbird try looking at the thread "What are you reading right now" - there are lots of ideas on there!
I would also recommend "The Secret Life of Bees" (also a thread on this book).
Enjoy whatever you choose!

Nice, summery holiday read.

Hated it. Felt it was chick lit that, because it was written by a man, was treated more like "proper literature" by the media.

I liked some aprts and not others; again similar timescale to my own life so yes plenty of familiar smiles.

But somewhat sadly no doubt there was a lot of Emma in my younger self- political metc etc etc so that's probably why, though Dex was annoying and having been Emmaish i'd have swerved to avoid him.

Predictable, predictable, predictable... guessed the ending in the first chapter.

Plugged on to the end because of the great reviews, thinking maybe it would get better, but no the tedious and slap-able characters plugged on to their very predictable conclusion.

One Day and The Slap ruined my summer reading
