Innocent Traitor by Alison Weir

Has anyone read this?

It's the first historical novel I've ever read and I'm thirsty for more.

It would be nice to read something with a happier ending though!

I wish they'd make a film of it. I've seen the 1980's Helena Bonham Carter one but it's so low budget and shabby compared to the like of the Tudors tv series.

I like philippa Gregory , red queen and White queen were good!

That sounds good, I haven't read any of her books, but I've starting to read a bit of historical fiction lately.

I'm currently reading 'Rebel
Heiress' by Fiona Mountain - so far quite enjoyable Smile (it's based on the life of a real person, but I think it is probably more fiction than historical)

Although its not fiction, I would definitely recommend 'The Six Wives of Henry VIII' by Alison Weir, its completely gripping. I've read Innnocent Traitor too, and I preferred this.

Would second Philippa Gregory being good too.

Third for phillipa Gregory here, and also reccomend Jean Plaidy.

I second "The Six WIves of Henry VIII" by Alison Weir. Fabulous book. Also "the Lady in the Tower" about the fall of Anne Boleyn.

Yes, I've read it. It's great, if a bit depressing, and so different from what I knew of Jane Grey. I love The Virgin's Lover by Philippa Gregory, which deals with Elizabeth's alleged romance with Robert Dudley. Will try more Weir, I think. Don't know how histrically accurate these books are, though!!

Yes have read this OP and really enjoyed the book.

Then from that went on to read this

ALison Weir and Philippa Gregory are fantastic, If you enjoy Philippa Gregory then i recomend Wideacre, The Favoured Child, and Meridon, they are a trilogy set in the late 18th century and i think they're fantasic.
I also enjoy Jodi Picolt, if you havn't read any of her books, i would defonatly recomend them.

I like Philippa Gregory - she won't let fact get in the way of a good story - hence it being fiction. So I wouldn't say that they are historically accurate but they are a possible interpretation of how things may have happened.

The Wideacre trilogy was panned by the Amazon critics - but I read and enjoyed them. I haven't read the White and Red Queen books though - one of them is in my hospital bag for when DD arrives.

I love Alison Weir's non fiction books and loved Innocent Traitor too. Will definitely keep on with her books as they come out.
