Here's one to het you thinking. Am finishing my planning for work and I always read a story linked to what we have done during our session.

One of my last autumn sessions we are looking at autumn fruit and vegetables - can anyone think of a book that would link to that theme.

I did think of Eat you peas - but peas are not really an autumn vegetable - or are they?

'Growing Good' by Bernard Ashley and Anne Wilson
I got a copy from Tesco in the buy three for £5 section. It's very warm and colourful and uesfully multicultural too.

We are getting their slowly sammac. We started with giving out instruments at the end of the session - so all the children would come to me and be together at the end. we then moved on to songs that involved moving together - such as ring a ring a roses, hokey cokey. We then stood still at the end while I gave out certificates and we shared our art work. Next stage was singing songs sat down and everyone choosing a song so we had to listen to each other. Finally we are ready for a story!!

Thank you everyone for all your suggestions, can't belive it has taken me until two in the morning to finish my planning - and to think I thought working in early years just meant playing!
