What are your favourite Christmas re-reads?

I'm just about to dig out The Dark is Rising, which I re-read every single Christmas. As well as being a fantastic book which evokes all sorts of childhood memories, it's also a sort of Christmas-porn. Not only is the narrative set over the Christmas/New Year period, it also describes my absolute platonic ideal of Christmas - lovely family (but not too twee) with all sorts of old-fashioned Christmas family traditions.

Anyway, it got me wondering, do other people always dig out the same books at Christmas, and, if so, which ones and why?

When I read The Moonstone last year, I thought what a brilliant Christmas Eve read it would make.

Right, that's another to add to my list - thanks Belligerent.

Just bought it in Waterstones for dd1 today - 2 pounds in the green Penguin Classics version.

Silas Marner is wonderful. Not all of it is set at Christmas but it is a fabulous fable and makes one feel very benevolent.

Ooh, thanks lala, that's actually sitting on my 'books waiting to be read' shelf at the moment, so I might have to prioritise it.

I have to say i do like to bring out a couple of Julia Quin books every year to re-read nothing like a good romance!
