after reading Caitlin Morans interview with Jilly Cooper at the weekend - I am throughly overexicted and can't wait for Thursday.

Anyone else planning to start reading on thurs?

Warthog have you worked out the 4 words?

Can only think it could have been references to the men from the previous books - Gareth Llewllyn, Lazlo Henriques et al?

BalloonSlayer · 20/09/2010 18:44

I also agree HeftyNorks but I am quite enjoying this one so far, although at the moment I am still in the scene-setting part where we are being introduced to "PoshTotty Double-Barrelled whom everyone calls AppallingPun because of her habit of something-or-other and gorgeous, pouting Nouveau Riche who talks in a put-on posh voice - 'Oh Ay Say!' and makes lots of gaffes for the posh people to sneer at" etc.

Very promising Grin

MaudOHara · 20/09/2010 18:47

Lol balloonslayer - that is exactly what she does Grin

Have just read to the part where she walks round the village so got lots of that

LastOrdersAgain · 20/09/2010 18:57

OK, have just seen this thread in active convos.

I used to read JC all the time when I was younger, I still have my seriously tattered dog eared copy of Riders in the loft, and really want to get back into them.

So, can someone please tell me the list in which I should read? Happy to go back and relive Polo/Riders etc. It's been a long time, so will be like picking up from new anyway Grin

This is the order in which they were published:

Riders
Rivals

Polo

The Man Who Made Husbands Jealous

Apassionata

Score!
Pandora
Wicked!

The first four are by far the best and Wicked is crap not as good

But you can easily read them all separately - enjoy and we'll see you in a few weeks

BalloonSlayer · 20/09/2010 19:20

I didn't like Polo all that much (though have just re-bought it Blush to have another go), and thought Apassionata, Score, Pandora and Wicked were all pretty awful.

Have just re-read Rivals, my favourite, after a gap of quite a few years and was quite lost when I had finished it.

weblette · 20/09/2010 19:22

Nooo Appassionata was ace!! Agree about everything post that but I still have copies of all of them. Now, how the heck do I get kindle onto my iPhone...

warthog · 20/09/2010 19:48

MaudOHara i don't know what FnD's talking about...

no 4 words stood out to me in particular... and rupert campbell-black is only 3. or could be argued 2. and he's who's most worth talking about!

rivals was my favourite too. taggie and rupe. sigh. i think i've read it 6 or 7 times. how sad is that?!?!!? truly, i have a life too.

LastOrdersAgain · 20/09/2010 19:58

MaudOHara Thank you! Grin

I shall start from the top and make my way down (in between the uni reading list!)

FnD · 20/09/2010 20:24

Am back - stupied work got in the way! and ok I admit it, I am truly sad but yes it was the mention of Gareth and Lazlo that got me all swoony. I think its the first time JC has mentioned characters from her little books and after all this time, the mere mention of Lazlo got me all excited and I really wanted to know what had happened to him and Bella.

Anyway, am loving it large - almost as much as balloonslayers summary Grin

Theres another thread over here.

I'm sure I remember a reference to Henriques Bros bank in Rivals - maybe to do with the Venturer application?

FnD · 22/09/2010 07:50

Jilly uses the word "beadily" more than anyone else I know and I love her for it. So there.
