Definitely a great book strug, I read this in July and loved it. It twists and turns so unexpectedly I wished I had more by the author, kind of spoiled the next book I was reading as it was far too boring!

I've just picked this up in the local library and am looking forward to reading it.

So, someone tell me, is this book very scary??? I began reading it last night and it mentions in the blurb about ghosts etc. Dh is away and I get a bit spooked by scary books/films so don't want to frighten myself to death if I can help it!

TwoIfBySea · 07/09/2005 21:32

Not scary as such, maybe a little creepy in some places but more of a thriller than horror!

suedonim · 07/09/2005 22:04

Oh good! That means I can still read it while dh is away - thanks.

I'm really enjoying this - about half way through now!

suedonim · 15/09/2005 13:15

Having said that I'm enjoying this book there are a few things I've wondered about and it was brought to a head last night. The author uses words such as 'period' at the end of a sentence of dialogue, as the American usage and also has a character say 'Whatever' to someone's remark. Would these have been in common usage in 1950's Spain? Also, when Fermin gets beaten up, the dr suggets he has a brain scan. Again, were they available in the 1950's?

Finished it! It was a good read, though I guessed the end, which is nothing short of miraculous as I usually miss all the clues.
