i havent finished this yet, but seems rather, well, pointless really. we know it will all be sorted out, coz it says so in da vinci code. or was that published later? and also, he makes a big hoohaa about the antimatter creation, and then proceeds to treat it like anyother explosive. and dont they have cameras in CERN/?
im just having trouble getting through it. it seems to be well written, but there are these glaring errors, or rather, gloss overs.

also, he keeps going on about how an ambigram of illuminati cant be made, but shows us one in the first chapter practically.
anythoughts?

This was the first book Da Vinci was the second in the series

Must reread in order to comment

I got quite bitter about these impossible ambigrams... I'm guessing that they are tricky to do, but he has a mate who can.

Da Vinci is meant to come after A&D though, so that explains that one.

My sister and mum thought A&D was great, but I couldn't get as excited.

Roobedoo · 01/09/2005 20:26

I really enjoyed it, but there is a TERRIBLE ending. Completely ridiculous IMO and you'll know exactly what I'm referring to when you get there.

oh god, how am i ever going to finish it? was hoping for some incentive to do so. am actually rooting for the bad guys succeeding in blowing up the vatican.

Didn't like it! Having enjoyed the DaVinci Code I bought A&D in the Oxfam shop and was really disappointed. It just didn't have that page-turning quality for me.

dizzymama · 01/09/2005 20:29

Agree with roobedoo here! I enjoyed it but did find I really, really, really (yes, that much!) has to suspend disbelief!

Cybermum · 01/09/2005 20:29

I didn't really enjoy A&D. I read Da Vinci first (I know wrong order) and thought it was great - couldn't wait to read more Dan Brown. But....it just didn't grip me - perhaps the styles were tooo similar?

Anyone read em in the right order, and enjoyed A&D... so far the ones who didn't like it, read Da Vinci first

purpleturtle · 01/09/2005 20:35

I was given A&D for Christmas, and not having read any Dan Brown before, I did enjoy it immensely. I found it quite gripping - terribly written, but very pacey. Have now read all 4 of his, and am thoroughly bored. Talk about formulaic writing.

KateF · 01/09/2005 21:04

You certainly couldn't call it great literature! I don't think I'll bother with any more but I would still recomment the DaVinci code as quite a good read.

Nixz · 01/09/2005 21:27

read da vinci and loved it - librarian told me A&D was much better, i bought it the other day and have read 4 pages - i was sooooo lookin forward to another great read - now im peeved that i wasted a £5'er - is it really that bad?

flamesparrow · 02/09/2005 09:13

I still enjoyed reading it, but not in the same way as Da Vinci

purpleturtle · 02/09/2005 18:56

I think they're all so alike that you'll really enjoy the first one you read - whichever it is - and then find subsequent ones less gripping.
