...can anyone beat that? I usually only have about 15-20 but I think I've gone a bit over the top recently.

That's really bad. I just can't stop buying books :)

They range from Jodi Picaut, Emily Barr, Yann Martel, Tim Pears, Jonathan Coe, the sequel to Freakonomics, Robert Graves (always wanted to read this - bought it yesterday), Sarah Waters, The Book of Disquiet (another classic always wanted to read), and a book about various famous philosophers I was given for Christmas.

Not too many actually in the house, but I have discovered the 'save' option in my library account, and have about 40 books queued up to request when I get through my current pile :)

KurriKurri · 05/09/2010 15:57

I have a lot, - I bought 'fill a bag of books for £2' in a library sale a little while ago. Then I keep spotting things in the library I fancy.
My mum keeps sending me books she's just finished. And thanks to some great recommendations on here, I have a huge Amazon wish list Grin

BelligerentGhoul · 05/09/2010 15:58

I have nothing at all. :(

ZZZenAgain · 05/09/2010 15:59

you must get off MN and start to read them! lol

39 is a lot. I only ever have 3-4 max to get on iwth

ZZZenAgain · 05/09/2010 16:00

Atm I am reading 4 books at once, but the one I started last, I like so much, I cnnot put it down (not often at least) so the others are on a back-burner being forgotten.

I tend to read like that- very chaotic

BeckyBendyLegs · 05/09/2010 16:06

Yes indeed ZZZenAgain! I do read quite fast but my buying rate is greater than my reading rate. We have no more shelf space either... it's a problem.

'Fill a bag of books for £2' - that's my idea of heaven!

Oh and my amazon wish list is huge too Grin

nbo no no, don't even think about amazon.

You must throw some off dh's things aside to make room for your books. It is not so hard.

purpleduck · 05/09/2010 16:18

well, the Jodi Picoult books are all the same, so once you have read one you can safely get rid of the rest and you really haven't missed out on anything... :)

BeckyBendyLegs · 05/09/2010 16:24

Ha ha ha! His Dr Who and Star Trek DVDs perhaps!

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 05/09/2010 17:07

Superfreakonomics took very little time to read, I found, maybe that's an easy one to knock off..!

Goblinchild · 05/09/2010 17:08

I have a 'To Read' bookcase full. Grin

ZZZenAgain · 05/09/2010 17:12

Well I think Dr Who is alright but I'd shift his Star Wars DVDs

BeckyBendyLegs · 05/09/2010 17:14

DH would not be happy... He thinks I have too many books as it is. DS1 once counted them all (he likes to count) and we own about 1,300 books in total. I'm not very good at charity-shopping them when I've read them either. Perhaps I ought to buy a kindle.

I had 51 on my "to read" shelf in July, and have read 37 over the hols, plus reread the Tales of the City series.
The house looks pretty bad Wink.

Keziahhopes · 05/09/2010 23:02

Ooh, 39 to read, that is bliss!
I uaually have 3-4 being read at any one time, with another 5 or so in a pile. Currently have boxes of books and am hoping dh will give in and let me have shelves on the nice empty landing wall.

GeorginaWorsley · 06/09/2010 18:58
