Read 'Waterland' again

Does anyone else think Graham Swift lost it after that one? It's a fantastic atmospheric read. Read again last week, but author voice is a bit indulgent. 'tomorrow' was rubbish.

I loved Waterland, don't think I would re-read as I would be expecting the ending

Don't know quite how I managed that OOPSA

What a coincidence! I am currently rereading this. I can't remember the ending though. I've read some of the novels previous to Waterland but nothing afterwards so can't comment of loss of form.

Waterland is one of my most favourite books ever.
I've read it several times and it loses nothing.
I agree that Tomorrow was not really very good but I think he is a writer without a distinctive voice, ie he reinvents himself with every novel.
Last Orders is wonderful. And The Light of Day.
I think he's so good at a kind of haunting heartbreak.

I would take Waterland to my desert island.

Thanks. Just noticed amazon has the film of the book - didn't know there was one! Made in 1993. won't be the same but has Jeremy Irons.

The film is pretty good - I'd say a better-than-average film adaptation. Sinead Cusack is excellent in it.
