Just finished the trilogy and looking for some more crime novels in the same vein.

Is Wallander Ok?

Any recommendations gratefully received.

Thank you

There was an article in the Sunday Times about the 'next big thing' and came up with:

Jo Nesbo
Arnaldur Indridason
Deon Meyer
Sofi Oksanen
Shuichi Yoshida

I really recommend the Danish writer Christian Jungersen's book The Exception.

I actually read this before the Millenium books, and the reason I read them was becuase they sounded a bit like this!

I feel the same, I'm jealous when others start reading them for the first time.

I read Jo Nesbo write a great crime thriller with clever twists but there are a few and I want to read them in order.

They don't have to be Swedish though, do they? I loved Sophie Hannah's The Point of Rescue.

Might go back to the old favourites; Reginald Hill, Peter Robinson, Minette Walters, Ian Rankin, Val McDermid etc

I found Wallander a bit boring...

If it's Swedish you're after then the Camilla Lackberg ones are great. I've really enjoyed the three translated to date and am itching for the next one.

Didn't like the K.O. Dahl ones.

Wallender is good.

Non Swedish top tip would be the C J Sansom Shardlake ones (and another one is due - hoorah!).

Thank you all very much for your suggestions - I'll try some of those authors you mentioned.

It doesn't have to be Sweedish - any good crime writer is OK.

I've read some Ian Rankin but couldn't really get into them.

Thanks

If you like crime writing try Michael Connelly and the Harry Bosch series.
Set in L.A, Harry ( real name Heironymus like the Dutch artist) is a jazz loving detective who does things his own way.
