I won't go into too much detail, briefly after years of being in an abusive relationship I left 18 months ago, just myself and my dog to start a new life. Prior to this I'd lost a lot of weight and managed to maintain it for quite a few years but largely due to my circumstances my old friend 'comfort eating' came back into my life and my weight soared. Now I've decided I'm in the right place mentally to do something about it and as I've used WW successfully in the past I'm thinking of trying it again, however, I'm wondering now that as WW seems to change every couple of years or so would I be able to handle it as well. So those of you who are currently following it, have you got a success story for me and would you recommend it ?

I'm nearly 2 months in, and I've lost 8 kg. I didn't have a huge amount to lose, so I'm delighted with that. Things I have appreciated about it - it's very easy to follow, the recipes on the app are really good (I tried Second Nature a couple of years ago but found it very hard to use it to feed the family) and I don't ever feel deprived because I am happy eating a diet based largely on zero point foods. If you were vegan, or didn't like fruit and vegetables, I think it would be a lot harder. I don't spend much time on the Connect site, but I have found the WW subreddit very useful (albeit a touch US-centric).

I do find the points for some food a bit confusing - I can see it's trying to nudge you away from high sugar, high fat food but the points associated with some fairly benign foods sometimes seem very high. And things like a slice of cake that may actually be similar in calories to (say) a bagel have insanely high levels of points. I have started to relax a little - I don't count the points in a teaspoon of olive oil for cooking for example and if I'm going out, I tend to just eat sensibly around it rather than trying to drive myself crazy figuring out the points. It seems to be working fine. I don't eat all my weekly points plus exercise points so figure that gives me some scope to be a bit more relaxed.

I suspect that as and when I hit my target, I will try something different for a while. Not sure I want to be counting points for the rest of my life, and I would prefer a diet that didn't view cheese (even in moderation) as the devil's vomit. But I think the principles of what a calorie-controlled healthy diet looks like will be well established by that point and I hope it will be straightforward to maintain at that weight.
