Breakfast!

WW probably isn't what I'd have chosen but my husband signed up so it seemed easier to sign up too, so I had all the info, given that I do the bulk of the meal planning and cooking. So I didn't really research much before I joined as he'd already made the choice.

I'm finding it ok although I am grumpy a lot. But I'm really struggling with breakfast! Normally I'm not very hungry in the mornings but with the overall reduced calorie intake and increase exercise I'm ravenous in the mornings now! But I hate "wasting" points on breakfast, because I exercise at lunch and I'm always hungry after that too Blush

What are your go to, low point breakfasts? In my youth if I was trying to lose weight I'd just have a tangerine and a coffee mid morning but that is not cutting it now. I work from home so I can cook, although I prefer not to spend a huge amount of time on it.

What are your free/zero foods?

Bdhntbis · 25/02/2022 14:44

Porridge with water and a banana; admittedly it’s nicer with milk but I think zero points this way and very filling

Eggs , not sure if they are free on WW as I do slimming world , usually have 3 scrambled eggs and some toast / pitta

Eggs, fish/shellfish, yoghurt and avocado. Plus the usual fruit/veg. I tried to align it to hubby's free stuff so meal planning overall would be easier.

Eggs are free for me, I'm just finding any kind of bread is taking up too many points. Maybe an omelette a couple of mornings a week would work though!

Thanks. I can't believe I didn't think of porridge! It always used to be my go-to but it's been ages since I did any kind of structured attempt at weight loss. Will give it a go.

When I did WW I used crustless 50/50 for bread it wasn't too bad on points. I now do calorie counting which is 1000 times better and easier Smile

Thanks, I'll give that a go. I had a bad injury and was immobile for a long time, and the weight piled on ConfusedBut since I recovered I've been losing weight slowly and steadily just with exercise and eating a bit more sensibly. But I really do want to support my husband with this - he needs the structural - so I'm trying my best to get on board with WW at least until he finds his groove with it.

Yeah I loved WW it works. I lost 3 stone on it. Just prefer calorie counting now and have half a stone more to lose Smile

Big veggie omelette. You can buy chopped peppers in the freezer sections, throw them straight into the pan, fry them until they're cooked - you don't need oil cos the water from being frozen will do, the same with chopped onion, add the eggs, drop some tomatoes on the top and chuck it under the grill. Will keep you full easily until lunch!

I often have avocado on toast - one large piece of bread is usually around 4 points and avocado is free. If you add some cherry tomatoes or similar you get a point back and I find it does fill me up

For breakfast, I have yoghurt with 2 types of fruit, sprinkled with oats and nutmeg. Alternatives are overnight oats or baked oats with soft fruit (oats are 0pp for me, can you tell!). All are 0pp for me. Sometimes I have porridge. If hungry, I also have omlette or egg cooked some way or other. Occasionally I push the boat out and have toast as well as that lot :)
