Can you accidentally cheat weight watchers

Dandelionrarrrr · 07/01/2020 12:34

Hi my DP is currently on weight watchers green. I am going along with him for the ride eating similar and helping him out with meal plans etc.
One thing we both spotted was if you had One tea spoon of Colman’s mustard rather than two it was 0 points. If you had 2 slices of wafer thin ham it is 0 points, rather than 3 for 1 point.
We don’t want to cheat but obviously don’t want to use unnecessary points. Is this ok?
Same with the concentration of squash. We would never have 48ml in a drink for the 1 point. I understand that if you had 2 lots of 24 in a day it would be a point but based on a single serving is it ok to calculate it as 0 points.

We want it to work so any help would be great.

Re read that and I’m not sure if it make sense.

I suppose my question is, is it ok to reduce pointed food portions to get 0 points

You're not cheating, you're working out that it's a load of rubbish that has no scientific basis and a very low success rate at keeping weight off. Meanwhile the company is laughing at the people who continue to fall for it year after year making them millions in the process.

If your question is 'is it possible to overeat but stick within points' then the answer is Yes, and your potential weightloss will be slower or stalled completely depending on how high you can push your actual consumption.

eenymeenyminyme · 07/01/2020 12:43

It's fine - it's making you think about what you're eating and reducing your portion sizes.

kshaw · 07/01/2020 12:44

if you are having one portion that is what it is pointed at i think if you are weighing and taking that close note it will work - well, i hope so it is what i am doing!

Inanothertime · 07/01/2020 12:53

Are you on the app? Looks like it can't calculate half points!!

Is the app programme worth doing?

Dandelionrarrrr · 07/01/2020 12:54

Oh great sounds ok then. We are not even a week in so I suppose monitor the weight loss and if it doesn’t seem to be going that quickly maybe we should point the things.

Science or no science made my friend lose over 3 stone very speedily and was the only diet that helped her maintain it. So it’s worth a try for us. Also, made us realise we eat pretty healthy anyway. Just have small vices.

@*kiabella I followed weight watchers a few years ago and I managed to loses 2 stone in 10 wks it does most certainly work if you follow it properly

Dandelionrarrrr · 07/01/2020 12:55

@Inanothertime
Yes I’m on the app we were surprised there was no half points because that’s what I thought the ham would have been considered. Feels fairer.

If you have 2 slices of ham in the morning and 2 in the afternoon are they both calculated at 0 points or does it total them up and calculate 1 point?

Dandelionrarrrr · 07/01/2020 12:57

But the app is really good so far. Bits are a little fiddly. I like the barcode scanner facility and you can create your own recipes and then it works out the points.
What I did was zap loads of our fridge bar codes and put them in my favourites to speed up calculations and adding the meals/snacks etc.
I’m not the best at maths and it’s working for me

@Inanothertime Just fried it out. It doesn’t. That’s a bit of a flaw 😔 I suppose you’d have to manually change it and enter it

*tried 😂

Yes it would still be 0. I tried weight watchers for three months, I only lost 7lbs! I had been given the lowest set of daily points. I have never experienced hunger like it.

Inanothertime · 07/01/2020 13:14

So the app lets you nibble on pieces of ham all day long - as long as you don't go over 3 slices at a time that is!
I'd get through packets of the stuff! Haha! If the app says it's ok...
I'd never lose a lb!

Dandelionrarrrr · 07/01/2020 13:20

Poor pigs would be running for the hills

Dandilion Haha!!
I'd also spend all my time finding ways to cheat myself the app!!

kiabella · 07/01/2020 14:38

If you keep the weight off for more than 5 years then good for you, but most people don't.
If you look up rebelfit it explains it better.
Anyway I'm off since I can feel I'm definitely going to get slated here.

cricketmum84 · 07/01/2020 15:37

For the naysayers I've followed ww online for 12 months and lost 6 and a half stone.

I do similar OP. My thinking is that it's making you think more carefully about portions. If one slice of ham is 0 but 1 is 1 then you will only put 1 slice in and are reducing fat and calorie intake...

I'm just a week in but have noticed this. However what I am doing is not adding the same food twice. So if I have 25g of ham for lunch and it's 0 points, then I have another 25g later for a snack, I add it to the lunch portion so it calculates 1 point rather than 2 portions of 0. Does that make sense?

It was exactly the same on slimming world before I got pregnant.

jomaIone · 01/05/2020 14:01

Oh and I lost 3kg this week so defo works. And I've never been particularly hungry out with normal meal times.
