Appears to be more flexible with different plans - looks like it has already been launched in Australia/NZ.

Just another week & all will be revealed!

Launched here now. I've had a quick look and I like the concept. There are three plans: green, blue and purple.

Green: more SmartPoints but a limited number of zero point foods. This will be good if you're fond of convenience food or treats.

Blue: the plan as it currently is. You get fewer SmartPoints than on Green but there are more zero point foods. This will suit healthy eaters who still enjoy a treat.

Purple: extensive zero point food list but a low SmartPoint budget. This is for healthy eaters who are not fond of convenience foods or sugary treats.

Check it out. There should be something for everyone here Smile

I like the look of Purple as I can happily give up smart points in order to have unweighed wholemeal pasta and potatoes.

I love the likes of brown rice, wholewheat pasta, wild rice and buckwheat noodles but its a pain having to weighing and pointing out amounts when you are feeding 2 or more people.

Its similar to SW but without the copious white starchy foods, sugar free/fat free nonsense and lumps and lumps of cheese....

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 11/11/2019 15:35

Yes, I'm going for Purple. I eat all the stuff on there and hardly any processed stuff so I think it could work for me. I've only got a little way to go now. Fingers crossed Blush

I'm sticking with blue. I cook from scratch all the time but exercise loads so need my carbs and if they are 0SP I don't want it going to pot because I'm then having too much. So would much rather have them but weigh them out. Plus blue seems to be working so far so if it ain't broke don't fix it.

FiveShelties · 13/11/2019 07:43

I am sticking to Blue as well. I do not think some carbs being zero would help me - like @thismeansnothing I eat carbs but need to weigh them.

I’ve just re registered with WW and am following the green plan. I love the flexibility of it. Been sticking to it for about 10 days and 4lbs off already. Which barely dents my bulk, but it’s a start.

Bogoffrain · 29/12/2019 07:25

Signed up for purple. Starting Wednesday

I started WW at the beginning of this year aiming for a 12kg loss. In a year I never quite reached it (the closest I got was 400g, about a pound, away) but in a way that’s been fine as I’ve spent the whole year eating very healthily and I know I look great (for me) with or without that extra pound. My clothes fit better, I’m generally sleeping better (because I’m not drinking nearly as much as I was) and I think I look younger generally. It’s motivated me to look after my skin and get more into makeup and grooming.

At the moment I’m on a holiday break, just eating and drinking whatever takes my fancy and enjoying every single mouthful. Come January when I start back at work I’ll be back on the purple plan and I’m not dreading it at all. Having the pressure valve of all the zero point foods makes it completely doable and, most importantly, sustainable. I like the way it’s described upthread - for those who eat healthily and don’t fancy convenience foods or sugary treats. When white pasta and rice are the same amount of points as their brown counterparts I will go for the white. When brown are zero and white are pointed then going for brown is a no-brainer.

NaughtyLittleElf · 01/01/2020 21:44

I'm starting tomorrow, I've never done WW before, would it be best to start with blue for the first week or so while I get into the swing of it?

I've done SW before so purple is tempting but I need to work on my portion control.

I cook from scratch but need flexibility to be able to grab the odd sandwich at work and throw together easy dinners sometimes.

JustJuice187 · 06/01/2020 11:31

Doing the green plan - sounds much like the old old WW which was much better - never understood pulses and lentils being free. Also means I can have my oat lattes without using up all my 23 points!

Honeyroar · 16/01/2020 22:13

Can you eat point free foods from all colours or do you have to stick to a colour? My mums just joined and doesn’t understand it. I tried looking at the handout but couldn’t find the answer.

thismeansnothing · 22/01/2020 10:17

You've to stick to a colour as different free foods have different point values on each plan.

So on green the only free stuff is most fruit n veg. You have to point eggs and proteins.
However on blue most fruit n veg is free as is eggs, chicken, fish and fat free dairy. But you have to point your carbs.
Then on purple fruit, veg, proteins and wholegrain carbs are free. But you get a lot smaller points allowance for the day.

I do blue as it's the happy medium. Not too much weighing and measuring. Started may last year and hit goal last week.

Honeyroar · 22/01/2020 10:27

Thanks. I think mum has just done the previous system this week TIL she can have it explained! She’s nearly 79 and not great at remembering things.

Well done on getting to goal.
