Making 0% yogurt taste edible

Any tips on this? The only way I can bear it is if I mix it with full fat natural yogurt.
Anyone got any other ideas?

Mix it with fruit and a drizzle of honey?

stringbean · 12/01/2018 15:49

Have you tried 0%Greek yoghurt? (Is that allowed??). Much creamier taste - the Yeo Valley one is yummy!

SongsOfInnocence · 12/01/2018 16:05

I thought recent advice was to steer clear off fat reduced foods as they tend to be full of sugars. Certainly mixing in honey seems to defeat the purpose. Full fat yoghurt tastes nice and is healthy and will be more filling. All this 0% stuff is the work of the devil! There’s a reason it tastes vile.

LaGattaNera · 12/01/2018 17:18

0% greek natural is lovely and creamy - I get it in Aldi about 68p for 500g pot most of the supermarket own brand is £1 for 500g.

Usually have defrosted fruit with it and find it very nice.

Fekko · 12/01/2018 17:20

Total 0% is nice

NannyR · 12/01/2018 17:22

Just have a smaller amount of full fat instead.

Maverick66 · 12/01/2018 17:26

Cinnamon. Or 0sp jam as a coulis?

LaGattaNera · 12/01/2018 17:27

0% natural does not have to be pointed whereas low fat & full fat does and 100g full fat is 6 sps which I think is alot out of 23 dailies - some people have more dailies but majority only 23.

Hmm maybe I need to experiment more - with brands (I've tried Skyr so far) and with toppings. Thanks for the suggestions!

Well I have heard the brilliant/vile (delete as applicable) suggestion of adding 0 sugar cordial diluty stuff, the super concentrate in the tiny bottle.

Like petit filous, my source suggests.

AndMiffyWentToSleep · 12/01/2018 18:35

ooh I LOVE petit filous...might just have to try that!

MyProtein website sell calorie free sauces that are brilliant.

Onynx · 12/01/2018 18:50

The Fage 0% Greek yoghurt is natural & doesn't contain sugar. I add a few nuts, cinnamon & a tiny bit of honey & it's v filling & healthy

FurryDogMother · 12/01/2018 18:57

Add Da Vinci sugar-free syrup? You can get it in a variety of flavours.

Maverick66 · 12/01/2018 19:22

Options hot chocolate sachet or sugar free jelly crystals

yawnyawnyawnyawn · 13/01/2018 07:39

I stir in a squirt of honey for one point .

HumbleCrumble · 16/01/2018 09:26

Try adding a few drops of vanilla extract, I add it to natural yogurt to take away some of the "sharpness"

sez49 · 17/01/2018 19:12

I like the Alpro Simply Plain. It is creamy and not tart. I used to have Skyr before converting to Alpro. If I want to flavour my plain yoghurt, I like using the FlavDrops from MyProtein. I also use them in my ready brek/porridge to sweeten and flavour.

Ginmummy1 · 18/01/2018 12:19

I like sugar free jelly with fat free natural yoghurt. Still zero points!

Grenoble124 · 18/01/2018 12:20

New juice shots. Concentrated cordial. Tiny drop and it tastes lovely. I also like it plain thankfully.

BrownBrown · 18/01/2018 12:24

isn't 0% yoghurt full of sugar instead of fat?

wellhonestly · 18/01/2018 12:40

Another vote for Total Fage 0% fat. No added sugar, is very tasty.

Lunde · 20/01/2018 22:58

0% natural yogurt is fine if you add some flavourings

  • fresh berries
  • frozen berries - perhaps defrosted with a vanilla pod
  • chopped banana
  • no added sugar apple sauce or jams
  • grated apple and oats
Lunde · 20/01/2018 23:01

You can also whisk a 0% yogurt together with a sugar free jelly to make a zero point mousse

CandyMelts · 20/01/2018 23:01

No added sugar (only intrinsic milk sugars as in all dairy) in proper natural or Greek yogurt. Just check the labels for things like Muller velvet yogurt which does have added sugar.
