Hi all

Does anyone do this for breakfast? Is it nice? What is the best way to make it?

TIA!

Try soaking the oats in apple juice I prefer the flavour to milk

PrimeraVez · 08/05/2017 04:56

I just put about 50g of oats in a Tupperware box, slosh in a decent amount of milk (I use coconut milk), add a squirt of honey and some chopped berries, then cover and leave in the fridge overnight. Really simple but also really tasty and filling.

I used about 40g of oats, added 100ml skimmed milk, then 100g fat free Yoghurt, and the topped with frozen blueberries. Really enjoyed it.

I use oats and almond milk (and a spoonful of tahini for the calcium) but these days I heat it up in the microwave in the morning. It is easier than making porridge in the microwave, (I don't know why but I always end up with it all over the microwave or undercooked.) Then I add flaked almonds and berries or grated apple or similar.

sez49 · 10/05/2017 19:54

LOL! Yes I end up with porridge all over the microwave too. I switched to ready brek. Microwaved in 1.5 mins and no overflow!

Jellybean85 · 10/05/2017 20:18

I did it with high protein yoghurt and some chopped nuts and berries. Very easy to have ready in the morning and filling Grin

I do a Kilner jar of oats, mixed with coconut or almond milk, Greek yoghurt, and then chopped apricots, prunes, dates, dried pineapple and sometimes I go fancy and make a compote from frozen berries and a bit of rum, and layer it up. I love them, they are easy and quick in the morning.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 10/05/2017 20:22

Oh and add a teaspoon of chia seeds too. Helps the texture.

BettyOBarley · 10/05/2017 20:23

I'm not keen personally, something about the texture! But I occasionally try it again - frozen fruit is much better than fresh as it adds so much more moisture.

BoobleMcB · 10/05/2017 20:30

40g oats, top with plenty of frozen fruit and a fat free yoghurt (or two if you really want, we have activia atm and they're quite small.) No need for milk, the juice from the frozen berries softens and flavours the oats. Just mix and wat8in morning

twinmummy25 · 10/05/2017 22:03

I love them and they're so easy to do, I use around 40g oats and a healthy portion of frozen berries with 0% yoghurt to top it up with, give it a really good stir and as Booble says the fruit will defrost and soak into the oats.

ethanrayne · 18/05/2017 13:17

What are the points for overnight oats?

sez49 · 18/05/2017 18:35

Points depend on how much you put in. Oats is 1sp for 10g, so 4sp for 40g. Fruit is zero points and then just need to point the milk or yoghurt, whatever/how much you use. I use 2sp of yoghurt/milk, so mine ends up at 6sp. .

twinmummy25 · 19/05/2017 09:21

If you're on no count you won't need to weigh the oats x

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 19/05/2017 09:25

Yogurt and a grated apple with some cinnamon.

Bastardised bircher muesli version.

TryingtobePrepared · 19/05/2017 12:57

No count here I do 1/2 cup oats 1/2 cup fat free natural yogurt and handful frozen fruit usually berries, do think it's better at room temperature then straight from fridge but I really enjoy it and find it filling too
