Anyone else struggling with the simple start?

I went to ww last Tuesday evening and started the simple start on Wednesday. I have followed it religiously.
I know it's not been a full week but I got on the scales this morning and my weight is exactly the same! My weigh in is tomorrow and I'll be gutted if I haven't lost anything.
I have always followed the points system before and lost each week! I'm very tempted to switch back today.
Has anyone else struggled with simple start?

Not struggling as such but it's my first week so will see on Saturday how it pans out. But I won't be surprised if I don't lose much as I certainly don't feel hungry or that I'm sacrificing anything. If i do lose a couple of pounds then I ate more chocolate eclairs previously than I thought!

ProfessorDent · 14/01/2014 11:38

Not sure you should be losing weight in the first week really. This is about breaking and addiction - sugar - not losing weight, which will come about incidentally over a month or so.

Imagine you were trying to break a coke habit; you wouldn't much care if you hadn't lost weight during the course of a week.

It's about losing a craving, so you are not enslaved to something any more, it means nothing to you.

I too have had the Sainsbury's Chocolate Eclairs, only £1! Not sure they are that bad, about 10g of sugar for each eclair. In contrast, a slim chocolate 25p Dairy Milk bar has 10g of sugar in it! Frankly, just breaking the chocolate-sugar cycle is a hit for me, so long as I am not sidetracked into cakes and jams and so on.

Maybe try a bit of swimming twice a week to get your heart rate up.

Professor yes, you should be losing weight in the first week. In The second week, there are options to tweak simple start further. I'm not a WW leader but went too meeting today. All those who started simple start last week lost between 3-5lbs.

Don't panic Nancy. Speak to your leader tomorrow.

SpottyDottie · 14/01/2014 16:49

That sounded glib. I quoted the weight loss because I'm hopeful it will help me.

Please speak to your leader. Hopefully they will have some ideas why it's not helping you?

ProfessorDent · 14/01/2014 17:18

Oh sorry, this is the WW thread, I thought it was a stop eating sugar thread. My bad.

Mrswellyboot · 14/01/2014 17:25

I started simple start last week. Ok not to the letter but very strict. Lost one and half pound. Disappointed. I even bake for dh and don't touch it!!

Giving it another week. I didn't put on over Christmas so I should be glad of that loss as genuine weight loss.

What are you eating in a typical day? I am eating a lot of eggs and bacon, small steak and salad, mince etc. Probably not eating enough.

MercuryRising · 14/01/2014 21:00

I have struggled on ss and gained half a pound after sticking to it all weekAngry After speaking to my leader I think I have been eating too many carbs so I plan to weigh my carb portions this week and try and get a lossWink

Nancyclancy · 14/01/2014 22:33

I had my weigh in tonight. I lost 5lbs!!!!! The weight seemed to come off at the very last minute, so really pleased.
This week I'm going to continue on the ss and add the 49 points.
It's given me motivation!!

I lost 3lbs doing simple start last week!

SpottyDottie · 15/01/2014 10:51

Well done Nancy!!!

SpottyDottie · 15/01/2014 10:54

I had toasted low cal bread with cottage cheese this morning as I was in a rush. I'm having a jacket and salad for lunch and I've just been preparing some quorn mince bolognaise for later as DS1 has an after school activity so I need to just warm it through later with some wholewheat pasta. Smile

Nancyclancy · 15/01/2014 11:22

How are you making your bolognaise sauce spotty? I've bought extra lean mince as was planning on making spaghetti bolognaise for tea!

OP posts:
SpottyDottie · 15/01/2014 19:23

Oh I missed your post! Sorry! I use quorn.DH is vegetarian, so I use that anyway. It's the shepherds pie recipe in the simple start book it I add Worcestershire sauce, marmite and a little garlic. Also more mixed veg. It was very nice.

I'm finding though that I get hungry In between meals despite eating good things. Not just peckish, rumbling! Sad

Mrswellyboot · 15/01/2014 20:12

That ones lovely, I had scrambled egg made with three eggs (one whole and two whites) for breakfast, a banana and for main meal chicken, salad and small jacket potato.

I am going to have a small Wine as a treat. I cooked enough chicken for tomorrow and will have an omelette, bacon medallions and beans,

I felt I didn't eat enough today really.

Nancyclancy · 16/01/2014 12:07

Thank you, I made a free sauce and it was fine and most importantly the family liked it!
I'm finding that I'm really hungry in the mornings, once I've had lunch I'm ok. I've bought lots of ww petit pains part baked baguettes, (with my online Tesco shopping). I have 2 at lunch time with baked beans and an egg, it's really filling.
Mrswellyboot, I was the same yesterday. I made spaghetti bolognaise for tea and left most of it as I really wasn't hungry.

To help keep my chocolate cravings at bay I have a curly wurly every evening, they are 3 points each and come in packs of 5. I find it gives me something to look forward to each day.

I have been on this since Saturday thus far I have lost four and a half pounds in weight. I have been fairly religious about it though.

Dwinhofficoffi · 16/01/2014 20:42

I am also not as hungry as I was.
