Hi,
I am 34 yrs old, with PCO and have two stones to lose by 2011. I have been overweight for the better part of my life - with school folks calling me baby elephant amongst other things. I am terrified about losing weight even though I've read most of the books, am physically active when necessary and have a sense of all the tools that I need - and still I am terrified in that I can't seem to get any plan to work. So will you join me here and help support one another letting go of the fat?

aww fairy could it just be the crazy scales... I keep going up and down 500 gms..so take the average over a week...that is if I get crazy enough to weigh in every day!! [have been that way lately].
So went to see my turdspecialist today and was glad to report a 2kg loss.

This week I picked up a book from the library called the GI diet clinic. My progress with weight loss is certainly due to following a low gylceamic load diet so I can't get enough of reading about this stuff. Yesterday I was over at a friend's place for lunch and totally hawkish about not eating more or any fatty stuff...and succeeding despite many friendly encouragements for me to eat more (grrr) I know they are my friends but do you really have to force people to eat more simply because you aren't really into their weight loss struggles??? However saying no, repeatedly and firmly is also doing a LOT of good for my emotional well-being... honestly I think I've always been the one who finished my plate, didn't leave any leftovers, helped others finish their stuff...and said yes to a whole lot of food that delighted me...but didn't do me any good... It feels so good to say no now. So good to say NO - because each time I say it it reaffirms my commitment to letting go of my fat.
The other thing about adopting a low GL dietary style is that it isn't really a diet -- I feel fuller, and have plenty of energy - - so much so that I can now jog for 25 minutes without my back giving up on me... I really am now a believer that adopting a low GL dietary style is the real 'treatment' for PCOS.
Ladies, it's been five weeks and except for me and fairy noone has reported back on their weight I am sorry if this is difficult for you to do and I do really hope you can embrace your weight loss goals and reach out to share your experience so that we can help each other get there. one in every four women have PCOS this isn't about any one person's success... we all need to get there and we will :) So stay firm, stay committed and join me in saying NO and letting go of that fat.

Good morning ladies,
Have you tried the Pumpkin Houmous by Jamie Oliver? My standard meal is turning out to be pita bread, houmous and veggies.. very filling, damn good to taste and all green GL foods. :)
What are you enjoying these days in your diet?
