Hypnosis and weight loss....

Has anyone had any experience of using hypnosis for weight loss?

I am thinking about it as just cant get myself into the right frame of mind to start dieting.

It would be great if anyone could share their experiences and where to look?

The internet is great, but how do you know who to go to?

A work friend of mine did it. Think she had 3 sessions over as many weeks. It did work, in that she did lose weight after that, but it seemed to wane over time. A few weeks after that she was back to the same foods and weight!
I have thought about giving it a go as a kick start, but it's really expensive and i cant get passed the idea that it could be a big fat con

I got hypnotised not to eat chocolate and had no trouble not eating it for 2 years. Just wasn't bothered.

Only problem was that I had a 'snack gap' that I filled with things like crisps instead. So chose your suggestions wisely I guess - eg get hypnotised only to enjoy healthy food, rather than cutting specific things out.

Good luck whatever you chose

PS I don't know why I started eating it again and since had hypno for stress but that didn't really work. I think it's about your state of mind and how willing you are to be open to suggestion. Also, don't worry that you'll walk around clucking like a chicken, I was perfectly aware of things whilst 'under'.

I had it once and to be honest was not that impressed at the time - however, I have since done a course on hypnotherapy and NLP and seen that it can work - but it does depend on quality of therapist and your acceptance of the method - plus an acceptance that you have to make some changes - hypnosis does not do it all for you!! I would suggest you listen to the paul mckenna CD to see how you find it and if you feel it would work, then find someone to tailor the treatment for your specific requriements

Thank you for your advice.

It is really expensive if you go for a therapist that is experienced and recommended. It makes me nervous going for somone that charges £50/hr when a "recommended"(from articles etc) charges £110/hr.

I m sure there are some very good hypnotists that charge a lower rate, yet just leaves you in a catch 22 .

I think I may give the cd a go, and take it from there.
