Ok I just cannot do the low carb thing. Its boring.

Breafast - egg and bacon
Lunch - meat and salad
Dinner - meat and salad

x repeat all week every week ...

I just can't do it.

On the other hand I know its a bloody good way to lose weight quickly

I have around a stone and a half to lose. Can anyone recommend a less restrictive diet? I'm not a massive eater, I'm fine with small portions, but I do need variety.

DH suggested that I just eat little and often -

7am - small bowl of cereal

9am - slice of toast with egg/tuna/cheese mayo

11am - small sandwich

2pm - small Snack of some kind

5pm - small portion of dinner

9pm - low calorie hot chocolate

would this work??? or am I deluding myself?

Slimming World. It's not too boring and you can eat a fair bit. I've managed to lose around 2lbs a week. 2 stone in total. I have about 5 stone to lose still but it's definitely the most sensible and acheivable diet plan I've done so far.

How about the Harcombe diet? For Phase 1 (the first 5 days) it is essentially low carb; you can eat as much meat, fish, eggs and veg as you want, and 50g brown rice a day, which normally causes a pretty good weight loss, then in Phase 2 you can have either a carb meal or a fat meal (fats - meats, eggs, cheese etc), but you can't mix the two. This is supposed to be very good for weight loss, and would allow you a much wider range of food. You also can't have processed food.

I find it's a really easy diet to stick to as you don't have to count anything!

Also, the book says that eating 'little and often' is actually not a good idea as it keeps your insulin levels high (or something like that - I forget but the book explains it really well!)

Let me know if you're interested and I'll give you some more details.

Hi - I started a thread for anyone who wants to try to Harcombe diet here

I've put some meal ideas in there - ways of essentially having meat and veg but making it less boring.

There's a version of the diethere - see what you think.

Another diet you might want to try is good old Weightwatchers - that has more flexibility and encourages you to exercise, which will help weight loss.

Good luck!
