Hello All

I've been following Food Focus for the last week and it says I need to eat 1272 before exercise cals - when I look at what I have logged over the week I'm not eating nowwhere near this - do I really need to eat all the cals to lose the weight? (sorry for such basic question!)

I have lost 2lbs this week my cals have been quite low for example yesterday was 520 and the day before was 943. Just because I was really busy and didn't get time to think about food

This is a typical days diet for me so any pointers where I might be going wrong would be great and general advice on what to fill up on that is healthy - I know really basic stuff but I think I've lost the way what with all the durkan, aikens, no sugar, no fat diets over the years I've forgotten what a balance diet is!

M&S Breakfast Fruit Pot
0% Fat Greek Yog (1/2 a pot)

Mackerel Salad/Egg Salad/Tuna Salad

Risotto/chicken/veg/chilli etc

2 ltrs of Water
Green Tea x 2/3
Normal Tea with Skimmed Milk 4
Coffee Low Cal Decaf x 1

Fruit as snacks like strawberrys/grapes/banana

Dont tend to pick at food or kids left overs (as there aren't any left with my three)

Also try and do 30 minutes of walking a day but this has only been in the last week.

Thanks

They reckon that if you cut your calories so much your body will go into starvation protection mode and your metabolism will slow right down.
1000 calories a day is a good figure to aim for.
What you have listed seems a very healthy balanced diet to me maybe try to work in some whole grains but you have fat, protien, carbs, dairy and fruit&veg.
Good Luck and Keep Going

Your calories are way too few. Even 1000 is too low. I think the very lowest, if you're going the calorie route, is to aim for 1400 minimum. If you want to avoid counting calories, I can really recommend low carb. You will never go hungry and will lose weight.

Thanks for the recommendations - not sure I can do low carb as like a balanced diet will try a week of aiming for the total cal count as suggested and see what happens.

Will look into Low Carb any diet you recommend?

Idiot proof diet by India Knight. Go get it from the library and see what you think. I think there's a lot of misinformation bandied about about low carb, but I've never eaten so well in my life, I'm the smallest I've ever been after losing a tonne of weight I put on when I had PND, and it's no struggle to maintain. I've stopped losing weight now, no longer 'doing the diet' which is when most people put it all back on, but since it never felt like a diet in the first place, I've not gone back to my old habits. I really recommend it
